Triathlon (Flashman Sprint Triathlon) 1:42:00 [3]
I don't have the swim time yet so I will update when the full results go online.
Leicester Flashman Sprint Triathlon.
I FINISHED IT!!! Woop. Actually really enjoyed it. Was terrified waiting for the swim. Everyone looked so professional. Massively expensive bikes, tri suits etc. I was the only wearing a swimming cozzy (and only one with out goggles) and just felt like a proper amateur...thing is some of them have more money than style so though they've got the gear they weren't that fast.
SWIM: 400m
It's about 19mins from me starting swim, getting out of pool, struggling to put cycling shorts on when damp and then run 600m to the transition area. so not sure on swim times.
Didn't feel as good as last Aquathlon. Not been swimming in about 4 weeks and I could tell. Found turning at end of pool to be a massive time eater need to sort plus learn to swim with head under water.
BIKE: 18km
Was massively worried about this cos it's well known I hate cycling. But I really enjoyed it and forgot I was racing and perhaps dwaddled. I need to learn how to use my gears better and work the downhills to make best advantage on the up.
Took 56mins. Really chuffed though think with a bit more experience (I've only been on my bike 5 times) I'll knock that down.
RUN: 5km
Felt a bit dizzy (I started at 1:40pm and I didn't eat any lunch) and took about 2k to get in to the running, breathing was off and loud (sounded like Martin S and Gill - only Ash will know what I'm on about) then at 2.5k a marshall gave me a Jelly baby and I turned back to run back to finsih and got a spurt on and felt a lot more in my rythym and took a few places even and sprint finished to just nip in front of an old man who started the swim at the same time as me but completely razzed past me on the bike so felt good.
Run took 27mins...tad disappointing need to train where I do one thing then immediately do another...Gaz called it brick training.
This was just to test the water. Next year I will do a full Olympic Tri (1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run) and raise money for the British Heart Foundation have been meaning to do this for years and have been easing my self in to preparing to do it since I moved to Nott/Derby.
Now I need to enter a full Olympic Tri, April 2012 is my aim, set up some sponsorship and get training :-)
EDIT: Official times:
Swim 13:42 - not too bad considering nerves and lack of recent swimming
Transition 1 04:10 - long way between pool and bike and I wanted to make sure I was sorted for the bike.
Bike: 56:29
Transition 2: 34s
Run: 27:41.
Was 137 out of 140+ ...i don't think everyone finished.
