Note

urgh total fail again was meant to be going o-ing today but just havent the time to go in middle of day what with group work. looking forward to having a proper job where you dont have work to do after the standard 9-5.

Note

Urgh. havent done any proper training in an age. Legitimate reasons of being poorly and actually being productive with my work and so seems a shame to stop that. And also need to start the job applications. Now that my CV is sorted :-)

Circuit Training 36:00 [4]

having dan in group makes you realise your not the laziest person in the world.

noticed the change to 45/15s very quickly. good to see some new exercises thrown in.

Warm Up/Down 10:00 [2]

X Country warm up/down 40:00 [3]

10mins warm up by myself. got there an hour early as I had to pick a number up and then almost missed the start of my race!!!

30mins warm down ish with ruth.

X Country race 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

S Yorks XC Leage Race 1 Winter Hill, Rotherham.

I will change this when I know what time I did.

Was having a really good race on the first lap, was even going past people on the hills (yes me!) 4 of them being uni girls but then I struggled once it got onto the flat at the tops of these hills.odd. This meant the girls then over took me gradually throughout the course. Was all going good before my stomach again decided it want to try to vom. Stop to retch and a marshall made me walk 100m to get my breath back before he'd allow me to run. annoying. Then finished fine. Even managed to sprint the last 300m. Finished about 20m behind a uni girl.

- Steve Bayton flew round the mens race. not just a good fell runner!

Track warm up/down 20:00 [2] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Warm Up- 4laps with beasant and chris. Bloody miserable weather but sort of cleared up after we'd finished warming up.

Strides and drills. Not a good day to be stood at the back got lots of spray off of the guys.

Track warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm down with the boys.

Track 20:00 [4] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Not sure on total time of training.

Trained with two of the junior boys. Did consecutive 2s (well thats what we call them at home). Three of you run in a continual relay type thing.

Was better for me to drop down the distance and train with these guys as there was no one of my ability in the senior section. Also meant that I could push it and try and keep with the guys on the 400s. Pushed it excessively hard on a few as I tried to prevent tom, chris and richard (SPOOK) from overtaking me however it did mean the next rep was significantly slower.

Intervals 12:00 [3]

Absolutely pegged it down. Wasn't going to train and then went to hallamshire clubhouse to talk to xc guy and seeing everyone milling around getting ready to train I wanted too. Didn't have any kit tho so as soon as I got home I pegged it down to ShUOC training. Saw Cal tried to catch but knew it wouldn't happen!

Intervals (Parlaufs) 25:00 [3]

good session. paired with olivia. tried to outsprint neill and callum at random various points. :-)

Track warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Warm Up Laps- saw thompson after the 2nd time of passing lol. Had a bit of a chat so didnt really notice how many laps was doing.

Strides and Drills

Warm Down, two laps with lucy,

Track 23:00 [5] 3.2 km (7:11 / km)

4*800m. Recovery was til 70secs after one of the fast guys had finished. So was about 3mins for me.

Rep 1: 2:51- like a fool tried to stay with Lucy as opposed to run at my own pace so meant the next 3 hurt like hell.
Rep 2: 2:58
Rep 3: 3:02
Rep 4: 3:03

Except the first one not too badly paced!

X Country warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Warm Up just enough to not go to the start cold and to show Gaz the finish.
Warm Down

X Country race 22:07 [5] 5.0 km (4:25 / km)

Good time tho disappointed not to get under 22. Did get under Marlene's estimated time of 22:23. Sprint finish it out with Carwyn who beat by a bloody second and just 20secs behind Serena. Will try and keep closer contact with Serena and Martin next time as defo closed the gap in the last 2k just not by enough.

Hallamshire Training

Trained with the juniors as no point in me running far off the back of the seniors and getting no benefit.

Roughly was able to run about 520m each time. Most people seemed to get slower but felt I was able to at least be pretty even paced.

Orienteering race (Maize Maze O) 31:33 [5] 0.72 km (43:49 / km)

Quali 2. The shorter of the qualifying. Gaz overtook me then I kept catching up until we went in the section at the back (the cactus/penis) and I got very lost. Was good fun tho. Nearly ran head first into my soil mechanics lecturer :-S least i didn't actually collide.

Orienteering race (Maize Maze O) 24:15 [5] 0.93 km (26:05 / km)

Longer straight distance wise but so much easier navigation. Prob helped having all ready been out in the maze. Felt good and was running hard between the legs, really suited the shorter distance people like me, ash and dan.

Orienteering race (Maize Maze O) 16:17 [5] 0.66 km (24:40 / km)

C Final

Was really disappointed not to make it into the B Final. Was 4th fastest going into this final but came out 7th. Lost over a minute when I had a moment of madness and decided to follow someone and then realised Id ran past my control.

First ever time I have orienteered at night, had little rob's head torch and it spent a lot of time falling down my forehead. If i had been a little bit more confident in the dark at the beginning I think I'd have been a few min quicker.
