Run race (Trunce Numero 1) 40:14 [3]

The time doesn't relate to how I ran. I feel strong and fresh and I was running well. Wasn't far off RFR near the start. I ran the road sections and flat sections strongly and I wound it up in the last 2k at the end and finished with a good sprint finish.

The weather wasn't not perfect tho, the course was incredibly muddy and after the pain my walshes gave me in my first two years of fell running I have changed to New Balances which are pretty redundant as a pair of fell shoes in the extreme mud...they're more trail shoes. However they are massively comfy. So I couldn't go downhill and I struggled on the final uphill. Though for the first time not for my fitness but for my footwear so I suppose its a positive though a massively frustrating one.

Note

good post trunce chat with the girls. Discussing PBs etc. Think we all want improvement and I hope to get to most of the Trunces this year to do that. I am going to aim to Trunces and light fell races as I want to be relatively fresh enough to run some decent 400m this season and I don't want to put too much long hard stuff in them.

Run 1:25:00 [3] 7.9 mi (10:46 / mi) +787ft 9:50 / mi

Run with loz. Home-Broomhill-Parks to the cafe- up the footpath to the left- out of the farmers field- down the road (we v.nearly got run over...a couple of times), back up along the river to the cafe- up sophie's path- to fulwood- broomhill-home.

Nice pace. Wasn't slow, legs were moving well but was still able to gossip easily :-)

Turned my ankle on some roadworks board. These contractors should be hiring me not leaving stuff out so I can trip over them. Ankle quite sore now.

Run 54:00 [2] 8.0 km (6:45 / km)

Urgh.

One bacon sandwich and one cup of tea 6 hours before a run is not good pre-run preperation. or is sleeping on the floor the previous night. To rivelin and back via a57 with RFR. Was seeing double from cutting up out of rivelin onwards.

Trying to energise myself up now.

Run 1:15:00 [3]

O yes I am back training at long last.

First time I have felt comfortable in a run in ages and it was a welcome return of a ShUOC Girly run. Ran with RFR, Lucy and Sophie. Crookesmoor lights, Endcliffe Village, Riverdale, Endcliffe Park, Through all the parks, Then up Sophies path, Back via Hanging Water (is that right?), Fulwood, Broomhill, Home.

Good run. Good company. Shame about the weather.

Run 36:30 [3] 6.56 km (5:34 / km)

With RFR on her 5km route special

Home- conduit- to rach's- to conduit- rach's- 5km route- springhill- home

Unnecessary toing and froing but that's because I'm an idiot who doesn't listen.

Felt good towards the end, though due to housemates blocking the shower it took me ages to have a shower and I sorted descended into a post exercise grump. took ages to shift.

Orienteering race (BUCS Ad Hoc Relay Leg 1) 1:05:58 [2] **** 3.0 km (21:59 / km)

Bleurgh another awful awful awful run.

Stupidly thought they wont gaffle ad hoc. They did.

So 12min error on #1. Put me in bad mood. 15min error on #3. Realised I was too near road and corrected myself. I seem to go wrong orienteering when I start running so walked from controls 4 to 7 and got them spot on navigationary as my bearings were good. though didn't walk far enough on one as doubted my self. need more confidence. Started running again #7 onwards as it was navigating via paths. Got stuck in absolute shite and took down half a tree and carried it in my hair to #9. again can't judge distance and need to be more confident with bearing. Quite a fast run in 1:01 wooped Gaz though wasn't as quick as Hobbs no Bobs.

Orienteering (BUCS Women B ) 1:56:39 [2] ***** 5.0 km (23:20 / km)

OK so it may not be a 5* rating for everyone else but I found it chuffing difficult.

Awful awful awful run. Do not no why I have entered JK and BOC because I can not orienteer. I have go backwards. Was better when I first picked up a map I reckon.

20 mins to #1. Awful. Every other course had control 124 and I found that one alright but I wanted 120 could I find it?. well yes eventually but because another girl yelled to help. Also I didn't have 124 on my map so couldn't even use that to locate off. There was 3 depressions marked on the map in this area and I could spot over 10.

I just am really struggling to comprehend the relationship between map and ground. I do use all the techniques I've learnt and when I just can't find it at all I just go back to a definite feature and take a bearing and walk it. And pretty much everytime I get it bang on.

#8 I made a 90 error. was really stupid that was a silly mistake

#10 I got distracted by Mountain bikers and hate looking lost in the forest so ended up getting more lost though did find this one with a bit of help. #11 walked with a bearing to this one but wasn't confident enough so clare from durham found it first. Crappy brambles everywhere.

#12. nightmare. should have been off the path. was ticking everything off on the map knew exactly where I was couldn't see it anywhere. so went to end of path where fence was measured the distance and strided it out went perpendicular to the path. bingo control. mega slow. Up the hill shouted at clare to say it was below where we were. We were swapping places all round the course but she started much later than me.

Run in. Wooooooo I got fastest lady's sprint. Even beat all the Women's A too. So ShUOC would win in a sprint off. Hee hee beat lots of ShUOC boys too. Who knew I was as quick as Rocke and Treb.
