Run 2:11:00 [3] 9.5 mi (13:47 / mi)

Ba ba is a genius for suggesting a run on such a gorgeous day.

Was v.v.v.v.warm and I was impressed with myself that I managed OK (not fab but OK) as I was concerned that it may turn into a repeat of the Edale Short Race where I had to be hosed down.

Started off the 7 of us- ba ba. hobbs no bobs, hoddy, gaz, rach L and ingers. The boys raced on off in the first 5mins but thankfully we argued our point over needing the map.

Top of conduit-crookes-back end of cemetry, stables, road down to rivelin and then cut up earlier then needed and ran along the top of rivelin valley, alongside golf course, round the edge of redmires reservoirs, stanage pole, along stanage edge, round the side of higger tor, over owler, down to surprise view, padley gorge to grindleford cafe.

Lots and lots of stopping for water and map checking but who cares it was just nice to be out.

Time is total running time and distance is ish from what nic told me the distance would be a few days before in the pub.

Run 1:05:00 [3]

Run with ingers and miss lee through rivelin and back along a much more interesting route than my usual A57.

Hayfever is back. gay.

Note

Had an amazing weekend of races. 4 races where I was able to run AND orienteer at the same time. Was soooo good.Think my most successful set of races. I've got the bug again. Might dig out the walkley map later and have a recovery orienteering session.

Orienteering race (Womens S 2nd Leg JK Relay) 22:25 [4] 2.64 km (8:29 / km)

I really love sand dunes.

Set off and struggled to open my map bag (why are the so awkward) and then teared down the long start only to be met by a charging pack of M16 who had just been set off. This totally through me and I lost where I was on the map so lost 2mins to #1. After that was pretty solid, managed to lose Mrs FR on way to no. 3.

#5 I decided to climb over the dune when it would have been easier to go around. Hey ho more down hilling to do. Then ran up to spectator control in a train.

Started to feel thirsty but was running hard so tried to ignore it (not enough water before running must sort that).

Really really stupid error at #10 as knew I was running fast looked quickly at the map before #9 and saw #10 was on a gate looked up and saw a control on a gate so ran to it but my control was on a gate behind me. Idiot. 30 secs lost

Charged round to the finish when an edinburgh shirt brushed past me. Seeing the edinburgh colours spurred me on and it wasn't until people were yelling on the run in hector that I realised who I was trying to race. Think he was probably just jogging on through while I was trying hard to get past him for a bit of ShUOC pride. Though he did cut me up round the corner.

Absolutely knackered by the end. Caught up 9 places and was 13th fast on my leg. not too shabby.

Orienteering 15:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

Orienteering race (W21S Day 3) 1:25:03 [4] 5.36 km (15:52 / km) +623ft 13:29 / km

I ruddy love running on sand dunes.

I could run AND map read again for the 3rd day in a row.

9min total error on #3 for running too far, could see the drinks control so knew was too far and then spent 4mins faffing on the west side of the depression looking for the control (where the control descriptions said it was) and then saw lots of people on the north side so went to check and thats where my control was. how annoying.

#6 two or 3mins lost here as was very confused by the varying number of paths on map and on floor so was constantly stopping to check. And had to tell a girl where we were on the map twice (me!).

#7 few min error in trying to battle my way out of all the confusing paths. Though this leg is quite lengthy in time I think it may be because it's a long leg and involved a lot of climb at the end. Navigated well of all the green.

Biggest error of the day was running to #9. Was trying to lose the girl that I had to help twice and didn't keep in contact with the map ended too far west near the sea and took me 5mins to relocate as couldn't find anything on the map on the ground eventually realised how far I had strayed and was near the black box on the map.

Everything else was pretty good and I felt so fit and strong on the sand dunes. Love running down them. So much nicer than brambles and grot.
