Orienteering race 26:15 [5] 3.74 km (7:01 / km) +78m 6:21 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 p2

Leg 1. I'm fairly sure Craig and I had the same map. Got to #1 first with Craig right next to me, and then tracked behind Craig trying to do my own nav for the most part until 6 when I misread which cliff we're running towards and Craig and another got away. Then 7 and 8 were both botched and I ended up 3 mins behind Craig for the leg. Luckily Henry made this up in the next leg and I had a chance to do the run again by starting out with Craig on leg 3.

Orienteering race 20:33 [5] 3.7 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 p2

Unf did not get this run recorded on my garmin properly.

Leg 3 and Henry came in a few seconds ahead of Ricky. This time I let Craig catch up and then followed him closely with the goal of finishing the leg close to him so that Henry can finish it off. Running ahead only had the risk of me making a mistake and finishing behind Craig. I stuck to my plan until 10-11 when Craig slowed down quite a lot, and I suspect he figured out his best option was to lose me by allowing me to go ahead.

I cautiously ran on ahead and found 11 ok, and then the spectator control 12 was easy enough, and then I saw that 13 and 14 were fairly known to me from the earlier leg so ran on ahead with confidence. Then to 15 I tried to lose Craig with a burst of speed but hit some thick ground near the control and Craig came in from the left just as I reached it, and then he gained ground running downhill and up to 16 and came in a bit ahead of me, but my job was done as I gave Henry a chance to take the win which he did.
