From home: - round the side of Low Fell, down to Loweswater, Burnbank, Gavel and Blake, then back.
Muchhhhh shorter than planned. Felt good when I set off but just seemed to totally seize up really quickly - after about 15km I had really lost oomph. Wind was so SO cold. Decided to just get out of it by going down to the lake (missing Starling Dodd and G. Borne) and thought I'd maybe just run round both so it would still be long... but by the time I got there even just running home seemed like a big challenge! Pottered back extremely slowly.
Very happy I came back as I was so extremely sure it was the right thing to do - but a bit annoying as I'd really wanted to do a huge run!!! Not sure why it felt so hard - have felt great this week and didn't even run yesterday!

Easy run with Mike around Melbreak. Fun! Legs felt great, would have liked to go a bit faster at some points. Stupidly didn't bring my good torch which was annoying - and also went the wrong way (how?!) so had to walk over a load of tussocks. But great once back on track :) FUN :)

Had decided to do a session inspired by Kilian J's fave: VK hard, jog down, then 10km tempo. I was going to run up Whiteside hard which is almost exactly 500m climb, jog down, then do some flat reps/tempo.
But got up to the first 'lump', and wind was SO strong, decided to carry on and see if it eased with the angle, then got phlem stuck in my throat and started retching, then the wind got even worse... was getting blown off the path! So decided to retreat and carry on with some reps lower down. Soooooo slow and slippy going back down as there was so much wet slippy snow and legs felt like jelly. Such hard work into the headwind & on slippy snow.

Recoveries in between hill reps and sprints.

Absolutely grim 3 hill reps up the steep grassy bit at bottom of Grasmoor. Got steeper as it went on, and head wind got worse as it went on too. HARD.

3 x flat-ish one min reps, not at full pace. Phew.

Very haphazard session in the end but enjoyed it, and think I'll definitely try the planned one again in less windy weather!

Nice recovery run jog to Windy Beach, swim and back. As usual it was hard to go and legs tired, but over halfway felt so much better!

Took two swim caps & my new earplugs to try and do some front crawl swimming. But sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold on the face! Maybe I need to train my face up?
