cardio (elyptical) 30:00 intensity: (10:00 @3) + (20:00 @4)

strength 35:00 [3]

Upper body and core. The plank jacks are killing me!

Hadn't weighed myself between October and New Years. Noticed over xmas that my clothes were NOT fitting very well. Turns out I had gained 14 lbs!
Well I've kicked it up the last 6 weeks and managed to lose 11 of it. Phew! Not there yet but definitely on the right path.

McCrea Lake with Debbie. We've both been so busy , nice that we were able to make some time for an adventure.
Our plan was to snowshoe across McDonald to McCrea but Debbie went through the ice at the edge of the lake, so we headed back and found the land trail. She went in alternately several times with each leg up to her knee while I watched horrified!
Quite the trooper. She chose to hike on till we reached a lunch spot at McCrea where she finally wrung out her socks. Neither one of us thought to pack spares.

snow shoe 2:13:00 intensity: (1:33:00 @3) + (40:00 @4)

Hardy Lake with Lori. Ran about a 1/4 of it. Fair bit of snow had fallen so some of it we had to cut trail.

cycle (spin class) 45:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (35:00 @4)

Good thing I decided at the last minute to go to spin class because I was scheduled to teach it! Oh...to be more organized or have my memory working effectively...
So I had to wing it without my playlists and my class plans. It went pretty well. Maybe I will become a "seat-of-the-pants" kind of girl after all ;)

yoga 35:00 [3]

Logged it as a level 3. It was very intense! Lots of heat building, worked up quite a sweat.

yoga (class planning) 1:00:00 [2]

The time was at least 1/2 hour longer but involved a little research. Worked together with Emily. nice to have another person's perspective when planning.

snow shoe (hill training) 35:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (25:00 @4)

With Larry! Fun to do it with another person.

Ran/walked to the hill. Ran the hill 10x and ran the snowmobile trail back.

snow shoe (race) 2:40:00 [4] 12.5 km (12:48 / km)

Lori and I raced the Into The White snowshoe race in Mattawa.

Great venue. Second year and they more than doubled the number of participants. Lori and I stuck together and ran at least a third of it. Some tough hills, but very proud of how well we did.

Gorgeous day!

Note

Shoulder is feeling pretty good today. I think skipping cardio kick and skiing this week is helping.

Friday Feb 7, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Rest day today. Work and driving to North Bay

Thursday Feb 6, 2014 #

snow shoe 1:15:00 [3]

Night time snowshoe with Emily and Robert on the Hahne Farm trail. Bitterly cold but still nice to squeeze one in.

So, my Achilles tendon seems to be just about healed. Very exciting. I was worried it would plague me in Spain.

However, my shoulder seems to be getting worse. So we've started some active release and laser treatments on it. Plus icing and ibuprophen I guess. Using my blinker is painful right now so I better get on top of it.

yoga 55:40 [2]

Practicing today's routine one more time before I have to teach it.

The focus today: Hanumanasana, Monkey God Pose
or, in other words, the splits. Definitely a challenge for me that I will be working towards for a long time , if not forever ;)

yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Taught the class

strength 40:00 [3]

Stability ball class. Mostly core but some abductor work , glutes and hamstring.

cycle 40:00 [3]

Tuesday Feb 4, 2014 #

yoga 1:00:00 [2]

Preparing tomorrow's class.
Funny how much better you feel after doing yoga, yet it often is at the bottom of our priorities.

snow shoe 52:00 intensity: (32:00 @2) + (20:00 @4) 4.3 km (12:06 / km)

Hahne Farm trail. Ran about a third of it.

Even though a trail has been cut (mostly by Sandi and I on Saturday), it is not hard packed. It is soft , granular, like running on the beach. When your foot hits the edge of the trail, it slips off and down into the deep stuff at least a foot. Little hard on the knees.

It's an out and back trail. so I measured the split time 27/25 and listened to tunes on the way back.

Monday Feb 3, 2014 #

cardio (step class) 1:00:00 [4]

Added another riser and the Achilles tendon tolerated it well :)

Sunday Feb 2, 2014 #

snow shoe hills (10x) 35:10 intensity: (10 @2) + (35:00 @4)

Wasn't feeling it this morning before I went out but I'm committed to hill training once a week. Great to get it out of the way on the first day of the week.
Ran/walked to the hill; down and up 10x; walked down one time at the end to take some pics and walked back up to see how different that might feel . more snow this week than last .

I find the worst part of the run up is cresting the hill. Same thing when I'm biking. I almost prefer to just keep climbing.

Ran the snowmobile trail back. No dog bites and lighter snowshoes made this an "enjoyable" workout after all.

Gorgeous, mild sunny day out there. Maybe I'll try to fit in a ski later although I need to plan my next yoga class. Haven't taught in a few weeks .

Note

The flights are booked! Camino de Santiago here I come!

Now the stress begins: How little can I live with for 39 days. What do I really need. I'm sure by the end of it I will never again want to wear any of the things that I thought would be so perfect for the journey.

Can't wait!
