road biking (approx) 1:45:00 [3] 40.0 km (2:38 / km)

My odometer was not working. Probably dirty from Sunday's ride.

Today was a relaxing, yet very hot ride. Katie joined me but couldn't go till after lunch so it was a scorcher! After the first two km I could feel a few body parts that had not recovered enough from Sunday's ride. So we didn't push hard and enjoyed the great weather.

YTD: 843.39

road biking 3:58:34 [3] 101.0 km (2:22 / km)

The Lake Ride . A fundraiser for the Newmarket hospital. Raising funds for a diagnostic machine which can detect stomach cancers and the likes. It works like an internal ultrasound.

The ride left from Aurora and went north to Lake Simcoe around the Jackson Point area.

Lots of fun and surprisingly good weather.

mountain bike (approx) 1:00:00 [3]

Demo day at Buckwallow hosted by the Bike Shop and Rocky Mountain. Donna, a road biker, came out when she realized the group road ride was canceled. We both tried a Rocky Mountain Element. A great ride! Mostly 1s, 2s and a couple of 3s, seeing as she's a newby. Kristie from the shop was a good coach with lots of tips for Donna. Donna was fearless.

Followed by a campfire and bbq. Nice night.

running 58:05 [4]

Same route i the drizzle. Felt pretty fast today!

road biking (solo) 1:20:00 [3] 30.0 km (2:40 / km)

Guessing at the numbers. When I took my odometer off my bike I somehow deleted all the info.

Squeezed in a ride to Bracebridge seeing as tomorrow looks to be busy. Out Gravenhurst Parkway (airport road), across 118 and back down Muskoka Beach rd. Quite windy!

hiking 2:42:00 [3]

Hardy Lake with Emily. Lots of thunder and rain off and on but the perfect temperature for hiking. So glad we didn't stay home with the threat of rain. Also glad we brought bug dope!

road biking 1:34:42 [3] 45.0 km (2:06 / km)

Group ride from the Bike Shop. Between 30 and 35 riders showed up which I think might be a record. After the first 4.5 K the group splits into different groups and Larry and I ended up with 4 others who were about the same pace. Gorgeous day out there!

ave. speed : 27.3k/h

running 25:00 [4]

Hardy Lake short loop while wearing my bear bell (you know, just in case). Or is it a dinner bell?

running 1:02:30 [3]

Bit of a struggle today although less tripping. Was stopped by a man who found a set of keys and later by the girl who lost them. Don't you just love happy endings?

mountain bike (mtb/run combo) 1:18:00 [4] 23.0 km (3:23 / km)

Peninsula Road on the mtb.

Did a run/bike combo. On the big hills, I'd ride to the top, drop the bike; run down and then back up again; hop back on the bike and keep going. 7 hills in all (and yes, Birdybird, including Puke Hill).

mountain bike (mountain bike) 2:00:00 [3]

A rainy ride at the Torrance Barrens with Debbie. Lots of muddy fun!

Forgot to mention that I did a slo_mo over the handle bars that I'm feeling all over this Sunday morning. So worth it though!

running (trail) 24:00 [3]

Seeing as we were wet already we decided to run the short loop for added measure.

running (trail) 1:01:48 [4]

Legs felt a little heavy today, and a lot of tripping. Felt good near the end.

biking (road) 1:29:47 [3] 33.79 km (2:39 / km)

Fun group ride tonight with the Bracebridge group meeting at Muskoka Outfitters. It was neither a long nor intense ride due to the fact that Eric Batty came along on his mountain bike to take some professional photos to promote cycling in Muskoka. Not that he on his mtb slowed us down, because he could outbike all of us. But we often had to go back down a hill to climb it again for the shot.

biking (mountain biking) 1:42:16 [3] 18.61 km (5:30 / km)

Buckwallow with Larry. Trails are in geat shape!

running 57:48 [4]

Same route: Hahne Farm Trail from home and back. Picked it up a bit thus improved my time. Yeah!!!!

Think I should buy a GPS watch so I know how far I actually ran. With all the little back trails to get there I really don't know.

biking (road) 2:15:36 [3] 51.8 km (2:37 / km)

Drove down to Paula's for a bike ride. It was spitting when we left. Turned into drizzle: and wind: and then just significant rain followed by sunshine the last 10 K.

Our route was from the 4th line by Bond Head (Bradford area), down the Canal road to Keele, I believe. West on the Aurora side road through Kettleby and Pottageville, over to Schomberg and up 27 back to Paulas. Nice route but crazy, adventure race training weather!

Thursday May 5, 2011 #

Note

Race report is up for the FAC race. 15th overal. Beat by 3 solo males, 5 male, 5 co-ed and 1 female team. Sounds like a lot!

Wednesday May 4, 2011 #

running 1:04:23 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (49:23 @3)

Same route as yesterday, only warmer and windyer.

Tuesday May 3, 2011 #

running 1:03:16 intensity: (15:00 @2) + (48:16 @3)

As promised to myself during the race.

15 minute warm-up from home to the Hahne Farm Trail. The trail itself has dried up nicely so conditions were perfect.
Eventhough I could feel the ankle that I twisted twice during the race, and some muscles that were very tight, this was the best run I've had in years! Go figure! Kept running back to home.

On the trail I ran into a very old man walking a Rottweiler . I slowed to a stop and took one earbud out. Good thing because the man asked me to walk slowly past because if I ran, the dog would want to "run" with me (?!) But even walking past , the man had trouble holding onto his dog. Kinda' scary!
