Sunday Oct 30

Running 2:05:00 [2]
With StrackAttack and MrHenderson. Tour de Valley. Not as long of as run as i thought but i think we we're fast today. Ancaster Creek-Bruce (up near Old Mill area)-Part Main Loop-McCormack-Across the Railway to Sydenham-Bit of Spencers Creek Trail.

Saw another team training out there (Beowulf? RM bald?) training out on a map...interesting, so the games begin eh?

Cycling 2:30:00 [3]
Road biking in Caledon with IronDan and Mick. Gore Rd-HWY 7-Hwy9-Gore Rd. About 60km. Legs are feeling the the ride, winds were fairly strong and lots of hills due to the escarpment and moraine. Beautiful day out!
C • Biking in Caledon 5
Note
Legs will hurt on tomorrows long run with the other Sack and Strack.

Tuesday Oct 25

Running 25:00 [4]
United Way 5k race on campus. Fossil 1st, TVP 2nd, OldGuy 3rd, Meridian 4th. The old guy came from nowhere and i couldn't catch him! Damn him!

Skipping out on intervals tonite, had enough fun this afternoon.

Sunday Oct 23

Running 20:00 [1]
Warm up with TVP
Orienteering race 25:00 [3]
Bronte Creek Sprint. Thought i was going to do well, felt good but turned the first corner around the fence and met my maker at FULL speed! Big ass log in the knee, did a tea kettle face plant...nice way to start a race! Hobbled to 1 and 2 before the pain stopped. Messed up going to 7, went to 9 first so had to back track. 23' and change not too bad considering the mistake and injury.
Orienteering 1:40:00 [3]
Worked out all the problem in the first race...i think. On to the classic. Did o.k. should have punched my way to 3 instead of the hesitation and loop around. 4/5 took a while to get to in the thickets i.e. lots of searching. 10 came out of it wrong.

Notes for next time, vegetation boundaries are great and take a bearing out of controls so you don't do stupid mistakes.
Note
Knee is red and a little swollen. Icing it as i write. Started to feel it close to the end. Hope it goes away before the Raid.

Thursday Oct 20

Cycling 50:00 [1]

Wednesday Oct 19

Orienteering 50:00 [2]
Still having a bit of difficulty in the map reading department...numerous errors. Hesitating a lot. Otherwise good course setting by MrPither. Talking to Oivind after the course, apparently he and i have the same type of colour blindness for orange ribbons. We missed pretty much all the same ones! And this blindness is apparently really rare. Pretty interesting.

Tuesday Oct 18

Note
Been slacking of late but been a bit busy at school - priorities first. Hopefully be able to put some hours later in the week but i'm at least orienteering Wed and Sun. Need to get out on the bike a bit too.

Also need to get back to some soild sleeping hrs. Eventhough i get the hours, i'm not feeling that rested of late, don't know whats up. Stressed perhaps since i have to crack down and get some serious crunching done before Dec conference.

Sunday Oct 16

Cycling 40:00 [2]
Out and about on some city roads. Really windy out!

Will need to bring the bike in in the next few weeks to get a real fitting done to adjust a few items properly and do some fine tuning to the gearing. Other than than i'm pretty happy with the purchase so far.

Saturday Oct 15

Orienteering 55:00 [1]
High Park with MrPither, not sure if it was just the verison Hammer gave us but man was map out of date...just messed with you're head at times.
C • high park map. 4
Cycling 15:00 [1]
Tested out the new Cervelo that i bought this morning. However the weather out is pretty sketchy and not use to the feel of a road bike so not going to ride out to my brother's for dinner. (Thanks for the tip MrPither, the cranks do go low to the ground, you can definately eat pavement in a turn if you don't have the pedals up!).

One note about a road bike, holy crap can you go fast and moderate hills are not tough with road bike gearing compared to a MTB. Looking forward to getting out more...only if this weather wasn't so unsettled!

Friday Oct 14

Running 40:00 [2]
Short run on the Bruce and Chedoke Rail trail. Ran into Sudden, looked like he was on the mend.

Thursday Oct 13

Running 1:10:00 [2]
Woods running on the DK06 course with Hammer, MrPither and TriHarder. Followed Hammer around the course and tried to sprint up the Category climbs like the Tour. Going to be a tough course to run. Going to be one of those day runs, gets dark really fast these days.

Warmup/cooldown on the railtrail included.

Wednesday Oct 12

Running 1:00:00 [2]
Easy run through the South Shore trails with Hammer and MrPither. Hot tub to "cool" down at 106 degrees...bed time for sure now!

Sunday Oct 9

Running 1:05:00 [2]
Sunday run with StrackAttack, MrAnderson and BrotherAnderson. Ancaster Creek-Spencer Creek loop. Easy hilly run, the team is resting up for a half marathon for next week. I'll be on my own next week.

Saturday Oct 8

Event: Ontario Championships

Orienteering race 1:17:00 [3]
Middle distance of the Ontario's. Started off bad first 2 controls lost probably 15mins+. Faired decent on the 2nd part of the course but not happy with the hesitation and loss of contact on the map which probably added up to a lot of time in the end.
Orienteering race 22:00 [4]
Sprint. Again bobbled the 1st control and just didn't read the map correctly going into 5, over shot and lost a lot of time there.
Note
Back to the drawing board i suppose. Going to have to work on the navigation a lot over the next year as well as speed and endurance over a short period of time if i want to do well in sprints. Won't cut it with current level of fitness and map reading skills. Good test though to see where i'm at and what needs to be addressed.

Thursday Oct 6

Running 1:00:00 [2]
Parts of the Rally and along the Radial trail. TVP ran the rally just over 30mins. Ran into MrPither going home from a run.
C • TVP 2

Wednesday Oct 5

Orienteering 30:00 [1]
Wed. Nite course setting and checking with TriHarder.
C • 2
Note
Wed nite sprint final appeared to be a great success. Winning order Marianna, MrPither, StrackAttack and Glen. The StrackAttack however pulled one out of the hat on me. Didn't realize the girl had wheels!

Rally on Thursday will be low tempo run for me. Hamstrings are hurty from yesterdays intervals. Rest up for Sat.

Tuesday Oct 4

Running intervals 30:00 [5]
Very painful workout with Sudden, Hammer, MrPither, JVD et al. 1min and change on and less 1min off X 15. Found it really humid and couldn't breath properly at times. On a high note, the Donavan Bailey legs are starting to appear again...although took a toll for the last few loops
C • Breathing 4
Running 25:00 [1]
Warmup/Cooldown

Monday Oct 3

Note
(rest day)
Normal Monday rest day. Going to do a mid-hrs training week to be rested enough for the Ontario's this Saturday. Hopefully will do decent so i don't want to overtrain this week, just want to stay loose.

Sunday Oct 2

Running 2:15:00 [2]
Sunday run with StrackAttack, MrHenderson and MrAnderson. Spencer Gorge-McCormack-MainLoop-Pleasent Valley route. Lots of hills in todays run. Felt great.

Saturday Oct 1

Orienteering 1:50:00 [2]
Training at Hilton Falls. Everytime i orienteer here i usually get wrapped around at some point...really need to stay in map contact thru this area. Did fairly well and happy with the orienteering today, slow pace but trying to make sure i was in the right area. Visibility in the area will improve i think when the leaves fall...lots of shubby undergrowth slowing the running.
