Saturday May 31

Running 50:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Burn 3
First run in over a week. Foot seems OK but didn't really push it. Body felt really out of sync. Really nice day though.

Friday May 30

Cycling (commute) 40:00 [3]
Beat the down pour home. One of those sketchy Alberta t-storm days.

Thursday May 29

Cycling (commute) 40:00 [3]
Saw a girl I was trying to chase down fall off her bike at a crosswalk and immediately following that saw a dude puke 3 times out of a car on the way to work - I actually had to avoid the splatter since I was that close. Most interesting commute yet. The dude puking was just strange.

Wednesday May 28

Cycling (commute) 40:00 [3]
Slowly working back into things. Running will be the real test but going to give it a few more days before an attempt.

Wednesday May 21

Note
mmm bag of peas on the foot. Aches like a mofo with extended time on the feet, can't be a good sign. Don't think its broken but something is not well in Pedville. At least its shit weather this week, good time for a break.
C • Don't say... 9

Friday May 9

Running 40:00 [3]

Wednesday May 7

Running 40:00 [4]
Hard tempo during lunch. Venting some steam or else I would have been a mushroom cloud.

Tuesday May 6

Running 40:00 [3]

Still feeling the weekend in the legs but pushed through it.

Monday May 5

Note

This is what oil sands are under. Peatlands. This is what the below pic likely looked like prior to mining.

This is an active mining pit for bitumen. The extent or scale can't be captured in a picture.

This is what an abandoned pit looks like. Yes they turn it into a tailing pond.

This is the type of older active tailing pond that the ducks you've heard in the news landed in. Yummy acidic and oily goodness. They are actually draining this pond into another pond oddly enough since they are trying to reclaim this one through reforestation.

You've heard that they have "guns" that sound to scare away the waterfowl, well they also use scarecrows or what they call Bitch-U-Men. Funny that's my other nickname for Zoolander;)

Heavy Hauler...huge! Trust me. One of these killed a guy last week when it ran over his Ford Super Duty truck. Nerve racking experience on those roads.

For scale. I think this might be the size of just a "littler" hauler tire - they have different models of over sized tonka trucks. Gotta love that motto on the sign.

Sunday May 4

Running 1:45:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 305
Nosehill with Zoolander. Bitching weather out. Zoo looking strong on the hills. I was feeling pretty cooked from yesterday especially going uphill. Good times.

Saturday May 3

Cycling 2:10:00 [3]
From home to Banff Coach and a couple of township lines and back. I'm going to be ouchy tomorrow I think. Felt like the wind was coming from everywhere - I'm a little soft on the bike, not a cyclist thats for sure!

Friday May 2

Running 40:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 F-lite 250
Back in Cowtown. Easy run along the Bow and bluff. Trying out the new shoes. Basically a cross country racing flat on waffles - super light, low to the ground and not much cushioning giving you almost a bare foot run. Calves are burning since you don't tend to heel strike much (i.e. forces you mid to forefoot land on strides) 'cause it hurts like a mofo if you don't! Going to easy into these peds.

Thursday May 1

Note
In Edmonton for the first time. Unfortunately didn't have time to run the trails since we were in a meeting most of the afternoon-evening. UofA is a gorgeous campus compared to UofC. Like E-towns has feel better than C-town from what I saw. Hit the Highlevel Diner and was lucky to sneak to out to Fast Trax to pick up a couple of shoes. Neat shop.
