Running 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks Axiom 2 (Green)
5Peaks Sundre 12K. Haven't run a race since RTH so this was tough to get back into race groove. Started off slow and worked up my pace to a good comfortable hard run. Unfortunately all grass at the race but i'll take the woods time anyday living in the concrete jungle. Just stayed in a good rhythm and pushed hard on the downhills and flatter sections and consistent on the hills. Out sprinted a dude at the end because i couldn't let him get infront of me, couldn't give him that satisfaction. Finished in 45th which is smiliar my Ontario performances. So happy about that! Thought I would get blasted here.

Congrats to Nicki (2nd overall age), Bena (3rd age group) and to Pither with a killer performance taking 1st overall (in a fairly tight race) at a incredible pace of 3:37K in rolling terrain. Shit dude, you're fast!! Awesome event with friends!!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Ice Bugs (Green)
Orienteering Middle B-Meet near Bragg Creek. Faired better at this one then other events but just wanted to focus on the terrain. So subtle that its disturbing. A little frustrating at times but splits were less in the last quarter of the controls where i started to understand things much better. Ran-walked-got lost at an easy pace. Good way to end off a racing packed day.

Again ended up at the Rose&Crown for beers and food. Unfortunately we had to deal with some rowdy assholes.
C • I hope that you blasted the ro... 9
Note
Hammer, you would really like this prof Shawn Marshall. He's a pretty competitive runner/trail racer. I knew of him from the faculty but never met him in the department. Funny i meet him at a race with some of his students! Didnt' realize the guy was a hardcore runner. Cool to have an atheltic prof in the department. Climate-change sea ice-istope type of field.

Cycling 40:00 [2]
Easy ride. Really cool out so was dressed warmed. Suppose to get to 4C tonite with frost warnings outside of the city. Seen people with wool overcoats and winter weight puff down. Come on people, not winter yet.
C • Winter Coats in August 9
Note
Rocking out to this weeks CBC-3 podcast with independent music from the 90s. Mick you'd love it!
C • Thanks for the tip! 2

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Axiom 2 (Green)
Slow to start but really went at it in the second half trying to mimick a comfortable race pace for Sat. Going to hurt for sure. Taped up the wicked blister I got on the hike with bandaids and duct tape. Should work for an hour or so race I hope. It was really sensitive yesterday so decided to stay off of it.

Note
Tired. Really damn tired this morning. Upper quads are screaming at me walking up stairs. I've turned into a princess.
C • Some advice... 15
Cycling 40:00 [2]
Really windy on the way out so decided to just put it in high gear and mash my way to my turn around. Cruised on the way home at a very leisurely pace.

Pither is a bad influence and signed up for my first race of the season. 5peaks Sundre. Should hurt like hell i'm reckoning. So ill prepared for this.

Hiking 1:30:00 [3]
Don't even know how to log this one so I don't overly inflate things, but tough work to get to the top since it was up, up and up. Climbed and summited Cascade in Banff with Nicki, Pither and BJ. Amazing day, spectacular climb, great company and just awesome views. Haven't been that nervous coming down anything like that off that summit, and employed the ass slide for a good portion of it. No need to die yet. Need to put more time on the scree. About 7hrs from bottom to top and back. Thanks Nik for the pick up/drop off.

Ended up at the Rose&Crown for beers and food. Brought back funny memories of a conference after party there last year. Also had a great view of Cascade and just thought, wow that's high and pretty neat to say i've bagged that.
