The pink looks so good on my attackpoint :)

Oh and most importantly, the leg has been totally fine both days. To be honest, I would be very surprised it if wasn't as it has been feeling good for some time now.
9 AM

Orienteering 58:22 [2] *** 3.8 km (15:22 / km)
18c

Long distance at Sunset Views, new map across the road from Huriwai. Pretty similar to Huriwai in a lot of ways, except probably less steep? Or maybe I just didn't notice it as much as I was walking the course. Was surprised to do so well considering I was just walking, was actually faster than a lot of people on my course! It just shows how important it was to be accurate. I did make 2 mistakes though... one on the first control where I misread and went down one spur too early, but then realised and corrected. Then another on the way to 12 where I crossed the wrong stream, but again realised pretty quickly. It would have added a minute or two though... So I really can't let my concentration slip even when walking!

Overall it was really fun though, I liked the map :)

Aqua jogging 1:00:00 [3]

Did some aqua jogging, just for the hell of it. And I reasoned the pool would be pretty quiet tonight ;)

All I can say is thank god the All Blacks won because the whole country would have gone into a massive depression otherwise and I really don't want to have to deal with that. But I can see now why I don't watch rugby - way too tense. Couldn't handle it and walked out of the room, which is crazy as I don't even like the sport!

Orienteering 25:40 [1] 3.1 km (8:17 / km)

Auckland champs sprint at Wesley College. First orienteering event in FOREVER, only walking, and it was a sprint course, but still :) It was pretty much impossible for me to make a mistake. Quite fun to just meet up with everyone and cheer them on though!

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more interesting in terms of navigation.
4 PM

Road cycling 1:12:00 [3] 28.3 km (2:33 / km)

Cycle out to One Tree Hill and back, but not up it, because my legs were feeling pretty smashed. I think it was the cheeky aqua jogging. You don't expect it to be so tiring but somehow it gets you the next day. Other than that it was a reasonably nice ride, but had plenty of the usual frustrations: cars that are too fast, cars that are too slow, traffic lights, sheep and oblivious pedestrians. Actually you don't get the sheep too often, and they were very cute, so I forgive them :)

Note

This morning, I cleaned my room...! It was an epic mission.
2 PM

Aqua jogging 55:00 [3]

Nice aqua jog at a steady pace. Then I decided to make it a bit more interesting by doing one lap with my body a bit higher out of the water, and then one lap easy. So I did that for a while. Aqua jogging feels good and more natural now.

The only other people there were some older ladies with flotation belts on :)
4 PM

Yoga (Bikram) 1:30:00 [3]

Did Bikram after the aqua jogging and I don't know what it was, I just really enjoyed it today and felt like I was putting in my best effort. I have decided that my favourite posture is the tree posture, and absolute least favourite is the lotus... Actually I wasn't very good on the one-leg balancing series today, something to work on I guess.

I like it when you lie down on the towel with your face to the side and you can hear your pulse beating really loudly in your ear. Probably the temporal artery, or external carotid? And then when you lie on your stomach on the mat you can actually feel the pulse of your aorta as well! It's cool.

Woohoo! Done! Last med school exam I shall ever have to sit in my life!! (fingers crossed)

Now bring on a year of awesome research :) so looking forward to it!
And also had the great news today that my summer studentship is being funded, so yay, a bit more money is always handy!

Stationary bike intervals (spin class) 56:00 [4]
ahr:167 max:192

Escaped the study to do spin class, necessary for my peace of mind. Otherwise the anxiety tends to reach a crescendo and I start flicking through things so fast that nothing is absorbed. Anyway, the end is so close, I know I'm not going to fail, so there isn't really any need to be stressed :)

Anyway, I did about 11 minutes of easy spinning (while reading some gen surg notes I confess...) and then did spin class which was fantastic, and I felt really good. Legs felt strong and I felt fast but controlled on the sprints. It was fun.

Note

Another rest day... I was going so well with the study and you can't really stop when you're on a roll... Also I wasn't inspired by any of the options today for some reason - aqua jogging, spin, AB&T, yoga... they just didn't hold much appeal. I will try not to make this a habit though...
