| Running (Paved surface) 55:49 [3] | ||
| (injured) shoes: Asics (pair 2) | ||
| Run round Parque del Este. My right knee was still hurting a bit (seems horribly like the problems I was having 2 years ago), but the main problem today was the heat.
I ran to first to the kiosk to get some information about upcoming races, but the the only races there was any info on was next upcoming marathon (not ready for a marathon at the moment !), and the Hebracia race in 3 weeks time (out of town). The other thing of interest was I ran past a vaccination program going on near the park entrance (don't know against what). 5:39 (to park entrance) 2:27 (waiting to get in !) 1:36 (to NW kiosk) 0:15 (looking to see if there was any race info) 6:57 (accross center of park to SE kiosk) 2:34 (looking at race info) 14:07 (loop of perimeter trail clockwise) 5:51 (rest - and water!) 14:46 (look of perimeter trail clockwise) 5:00 (rest) 12:44 (to home) Generally too hot for running. Total time is time spent running!

| I think I overdid it a bit on Sunday. Yesterday I ached all over. Today it's better, except for my right knee. It's a bit too painful to run.
The backpacking trip to Trujillo for the long weekend has been cancelled (due to not enough people for the bus we've rented), so maybe I'll have a chance to recover, although I'll probably end up doing another hike in El Ávila one day of the weekend. I want to make the most of it as it's dry season, and this time last year El Ávila was closed because of fire risk (I don't know how long it will stay open this year).

| Hiking 10:00:00 [2] | ||
| Jesús invited me to join a small group (lead by Ana) to do Picos Naiguatá, Oriental (via Fila Maestra), Oriantal and Ávila. I set off after the main group, but with a few later people (including Jesús). However, it soon became obvious that I couldn't keep up with them. I last saw Jesús and Idalmis as I met the main ridge, they were on their way down from Naiguatá, and had gained 45 minutes or more on me. So I did my own hike after that, which was still long and strenuous.
My route was: PGP Galindo, Miguel Delgado, Pico Naiguatá, Topo Galindo, Pico Goering, Cumbre de Dos Banderes, Rancho Grande, Cueva Emilia (didn't quite go to it as I cut off a corner), Estribo de Duarte, home. Probably about 2000m of ascent (would have been more if I'd done the whole route). Hot and sunny on the lower slopes, misty and a pleasant temperature (but no views) higher up.
