Orienteering race 1:24:01 [4] **** 7.67 km (10:57 / km) +235m 9:30 / km
shoes: Integrators pair 2
US Champs day 1 - lost my watch after the race (!) so no splits (as it wasn't e-punching).

Typical Laramie terrain - felt pretty focused the entire race, and made only minimal mistakes - just need to be able to run faster - but I was running pretty well as well. Caught Michael Rounds at no 3, and we were together, off and on, until no 11 when he finally got ahead. In the meantime, we each kept thinking we'd lost each other only to meet again near controls (he passed me at 10).

The only down side was that I hit the inside of my left ankle against a small tree stump early in the race. It only hurt for a few seconds at the time, but was hurting more in the evening.

Gentle run around Washington Park (although did speed up a bit towards the end). Practice for pacing myself when running through Manitou Springs at the start of Pikes Peak. Nice and cool in comparison with recent temperatures. Splits were 27:51 and 26:42.
