Orienteering race 1:16:23 [4] 7.19 km (10:37 / km) +498ft 9:36 / km
ahr:142 max:166 shoes: Falcons

Green Classic at Pelican Bay (from the east side). This didn't go too well. The first control was trivial (just to get us across a fence), but the next two were in detailed rock areas that I just couldn't get my head around (lots of people had problems with no 3). I began to question why I was doing this at all! After that the run got somewhat better, but I was still having problems with rocks, and looking around me to find my control behind me.

Orienteering race 40:44 [4] 4.22 km (9:40 / km) +298ft 8:43 / km
ahr:149 max:170 shoes: Falcons

Middle Green course at Granite Planite (swampfox spelling). Good run, except for following the wrong line out of the first common control (no 3) for about 30 seconds before realizing my mistake. At no 17 the aspen was confusing, making me go to a different control flag first.

ahr:143 max:182 shoes: Hokas

Long run at altitude - around Rollins Pass. A bit slower than I need to be in the race in 1.5 weeks, but that shouldn't involve boulder fields and steep off trail hiking! Visited 7 lakes, and fortunately the threatening storms stayed away. Met two skiers who'd skied down the small snow field (glacier) above Bob Lake (the northern most lake visited)!

Note

Taper time (ready or not), which will largely consist of being responsible for epunch at a national orienteering event.
