Score-O at Tyler SP. 50 controls with point values varying from 1 to 10, 2-hour time limit plus 30 minutes to plan before the mass start. 10 point/min OT penalty. Mid-70s, sunny and breezy.

Highlighted the higher point controls and planned a loop, anticipating making adjustments on the fly. Figured I needed to be crossing back over the creek with 15 minutes to go (1.25k straight-line from the bridge to finish). Tyler SP in the summer (or anytime) has lots of scratchy stuff, so maximized time on trails to limit the unpleasantness. Lost a bit of time to a couple of controls just trying to get through vegetation to get to the flag. Made it to the crossing with about 14 min to spare but then bobbled a few minutes getting to the last control I was visiting. So had to redline from there - made it with 9 seconds to spare. Finished 5th overall (maybe 4th, looks like someone's epunch wasn't cleared and they got some extra points).
