Road Run 36:39 [3] 4.06 mi (9:02 / mi)
shoes: NB 874

Running on snow covered roads. Light snow for much of the day with about 2" accumulation. It was cold, so the snow was light and fluffy but no melting was happening. Wore trail shoes to get better traction and stayed on the state road which had been salted but was still about half covered. Traction was good except when I had to go on the shoulder as cars passed and the snow was deeper. South on 66 and back. Temp was just about 20F.

AOWN: Spotted the leucistic cardinal at the feeder a few times today (along with many of his normally-colored kin).

Road Run 37:57 [3] 4.15 mi (9:09 / mi)
shoes: NB878 - #9

Another cold day (24F, overcast, breeze out of the NW). Ran around the south "block" - 32W, Bashford, Richmond, 66N.

Road Run 30:35 [3] 3.33 mi (9:11 / mi)
shoes: NB878 - #9

Road run in the cold (21F). Good to get out after over a week off due to a nasty cold plus a tight lower back aggravated by Yowsa!!

AOWN: Spotted a mostly white northern cardinal visiting our bird feeder over the last few days. Wings, tail and crest have some red on them and the beak is orange but the rest is white. No black around the beak as there is in normally colored cardinals. I think the trait is called (partial) leucism where there is no pigment in the feathers but the beak, eyes and legs are normally pigmented (as opposed to albinism where no pigment is present).

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] *** 3.0 km (25:00 / km) +110m 21:08 / km
15c shoes: VJ Falcons 3 (yellow)

Ratlum Mtn Night-O. Orienteering in the dark and snow - lots of fun. About 2 or 3 inches of wet snow on the ground (and branches) with snow falling while I was out. Orienteering was OK but with some of fumbling around in the circles to actually find controls. Never found #8, although I'm sure I was within about 10 meters of it (probably several times). After about 15 minutes of searching I gave up and continued. Also lost 3 or 4 minutes between 5 and 6 getting caught in some unmapped mountain laurel. Time should've been a bit under an hour. FR measured 5.1km

Thanks to Charlie and Rhonda for hosting a fine orienteering and holiday party.
