Fort Washington SP. Red course, 6.5k - with streamers hung by Wyatt (Thanks!). Mid 50s and mostly sunny. Got a bit frustrated by the mis-match of map and terrain around 16 (which I knew about). Never found streamers at 16 or 20 (and fished the one at 22 out of the water). Slowed down significantly at several controls to actually find the streamers. Good to be running in the woods.

Nockamixon SP on the south side of the lake (figuring the bulk of the park visitors would be in the more developed area on the north side of the lake). Several cars in the parking lot but only saw about four others on the trail. Ran on the Elephant Trail (or more correctly, trails in the area of the park where all the trails are called Elephant Trail - a quirk of Nockamixon). Trails were muddy, at least in those areas where they are flattish. A few excursions into the woods to get around mud. Trail on the return (further from the lake) was better and more interesting - more meandering single track, less mud, some nice woods and a couple of streams. Mid 40s, mostly sunny.

Note

An upside to the current social distancing experiment seems to be that more people are getting outside to exercise (glad this didn’t start in the dead of Winter - although perhaps it should have). And I think parents are getting more quality time with their kids (and appreciating teachers more).

Walking Purchase Park. Running on rocky trails is a lot easier than biking on those same trails. I suppose that’s partly because I can precisely control my foot placement while running but don’t have that level of control of wheel placement with the bike. Plus once you’ve dealt with obstacle on foot, you are past it while the bike still has another wheel to get over or around it. So this was a pretty challenging ride, especially when I ventured beyond the trails I’d determined as “not too bad” for biking. Lots of climb too. Took the powerline on my return, which is much more rideable. Then played around on some of the flatter trails near the parking lot. A couple of falls, but with relatively soft landings. Nice day - low 50s and mostly sunny.

Red course at White Clay Creek local event. 5.0k, 175m. Short course because the courses were intended to be used at a Winter event which was cancelled (for fear of snow or ice as I recall). The course was comprised of all shortish legs, which forced a lot of bashing through scratchy stuff. Leaves weren't out yet so you could see somewhat what might be a less scratchy route. An OK run with a few minutes of total errors, usually in areas where the map and control placement didn't match my interpretation of how things should look. Really nice day with temps in the 50s and sunny.
