Event: WCOC Ansonia Nature Center meet

Orienteering race 1:04:45 [4] *** 6.2 km (10:27 / km) +190m 9:03 / km
spiked:10/13c shoes: VJ Falcons
Red course at Ansonia Nature Center. Beautiful day - 50 and sunny. 7 - 8 minutes worth of errors (3 on #10, 2 on #12, the rest spread among 3 other controls). Nice course in challenging but fun terrain.
Orienteering 56:03 [3] *** 4.2 km (13:21 / km)
spiked:10/13c shoes: VJ Falcons
Sprint/Short course at Ansonia Nature Center (after running Red). Advertised as 2.9k, actually 4.2k. Started out at 5 intensity but lost motivation after #6 and just finished the course at a moderate pace. The control code and description for #6 were wrong and I spent 13 minutes relocating and coming back to the flag which I had initially spiked. I guess I expected more from a "US Team - sponsored" event than a fundamental, fatal error in course-setting. Quite frustrating.

Red - Splits

Friday Nov 24

Road Run 27:36 [3] 3.1 mi (8:54 / mi)
shoes: NB 878 - #6
Rt 66S and back. Just after sunset on a beautiful, sunny day. Low 40's by the time I ran. Needed to get out after two days of riding in the car, sitting and eating.

Tuesday Nov 21

Road Run 34:51 [3] 4.11 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: NB 878 - #6
Rt. 66N to Riders Mills bridge and back. Coldest so far this season, 31F. When it's cold I tend to run faster to get/keep warm. Very clear with lots of stars. Why don't (most) motorists dim their headlights for runners?

Sunday Nov 19

Trail Run 1:00:52 [3] * 6.8 mi (8:57 / mi)
shoes: NB 809
Trails at Schodack Island SP. Very flat. Saw three hunters and no deer. Heard one gunshot. Wore an orange shirt. November weather - low 40's and overcast.
