| Flying Pig Middle Distance at Miami Whiterwater - North. Nice technical course with a series of 4 sprint type controls at the end. About 3 min total of errors - stopped a spur short on the long leg (#3) and was too far downhill on the quite short eighth leg (#7 may have been farther downhill than shown on the map). Apparently others made more errors since I ended up with the fastest time on the Green course. Temps in the low 40's with some breeze. |

| Right calf (and hamstring to a lesser extent) still sore from the Valley Goat, so I've been resting them - hoping to be OK for the Pig. Had some cramping during the Valley Goat which apparently the muscles did not like. |

| Valley Goat III, Long version. Beautiful day, 40's and sunny with a bit of breeze. Nice course, but some brutal climbs and descents on rocky hillsides (occasionally partway down the hill and then back up). Flip-flopped with Karl Ahlswede and Phil Bricker through most of the race, taking different lines but usually helping each other into the controls. On the verge of cramping a few times but managed to control it by walking. Couse started and finished on the Mt. Misery map with a loop on the Mt. Joy map. Forerunner measured 16.1km distance.
Updated the distance after measuring it on the map - a 10% bonus over the advertised 13km. Plus 545m of climb based on my route. |

| Rt 66N and back. Above freezing! 39F with a breeze out of the south so not quite T-shirt and shorts weather yet. New shoes - starting to feel a twinge in the right knee and the shoes I was wearing have hit 300 miles, so I thought it might be time to try some new ones. |
