Long distance course at Canadian Nationals on Mineral Springs. Very good course with two long legs, some short legs in technical detailed areas, and three intermediate length legs with really good route choice options.

Had a very good run, good enough to win M55-64. Lost about a minute on the leg from 11 - 12 drifting too far north and eventually took the intermittent trail which passes near control 2. For the first long leg (control 3) I took trails west of the bee line to the main N-S road (with the water stops along it) then headed west on the trail, between the big hills and up over the ridge along the line connecting 8 and 9. Said hi to Soupbone as he passed just before I got to control 3 (he was headed off to explore the nearby housing development). For 6-7 I headed out east to the road and took trails most of the way. 8-9 was mostly straight, along the south side of the ridge, along the south side of the pond, through the notch and then trail around to the control. Took a sub-optimal route to 11, climbing to go through the medium green on the spur with the OOB and then sidehilling to the control (best route looks to be to head west out of 10 then run trail to just beyond the junction and in - probably 1 - 2 min faster with less climb and less green).

Woods were a little wet due to earlier showers but no rain during my run. Footing was generally good (except for really soft marshy areas). Fairly warm with temp about 60F. Straight line distance 7.0 km with 340m climb (30m of it on the 100m leg from 12 - 13).
