Woke up sprint controls just after it got light with temp in the 30s.

Another loop of sprint controls, including setting one up on a fraternity patio which we figured shouldn't be set up on a Saturday night (we later learned that it was no longer a frat house but rather privately owned - oops).

Waking up 12 controls on Burnt Mtn. for the NAOC Long. My first time on the (new) map. Drove to the south end of the map with Alar who then led me out to the "quarry" (control 218). Did a loop of controls (very carefully) and reconnected with Alar to finish up two controls and run back to the car.

Forgot to pick up the controls yesterday on the warm-up map at Oak Hill so headed up there to get them.

Picked up 9 controls in the middle of the Burnt Mtn. map. About a 20 min hike each way. Out in time to make it to dinner at the dining hall (quite a bit changed in 40 years).
Plenty of helpers to pick up controls so I didn't have to. Did spend several hours on my feet checking results and chatting with competitors. Thanks to all who helped and for all the feedback on the courses.

Waking up 9 controls at Oak Hill. Got a ride to the start, so didn't have to climb the hill. A fun downhill run to get back to the finish.
Fortunately, we were able to truck all the water up the hill for the Middle courses, getting about 50gal to the start (more than we had intended due to a calclational error) and the water for controls within 100 meters of where it was needed. Brian Kunz (our Dartmouth contact/facilitator for the event) helped me lug the jugs into the controls. We were accompanied by a reporter/photographer from the local newspaper (The Valley News) so got a nice article the next day including photos (and accurate quotes!).

Placing 4 controls on the warm-up map, streamering the Start area, hanging a flag at the start triangle. Walked back along the route to start to hang streamers.

Walking the entire alternate route to start, hanging a few streamers at trail junctions.

Corn Maze-O, Classic Distance. Took the first 3 controls to get into the map, then did OK. It had rained about 3" earlier in the day so there were deep puddles and mud in the cornfield - adding to the fun!

Corn Maze-O Sprint. 12 controls, get them in any order.

Night Corn Maze-O. Point-to-point course with "map exchange" (i.e. flip the map over). Handicapped by number of controls you could skip (I had seven to skip but lost track and only skipped 5). DFL among those who finished the course - I just can't move with any speed and keep track of things. Had lots of fun anyway.
