Friday Jun 20

running 1:10:00 [3]
7*montsouris/passo coe - malga zonta DE backwards :)

Wednesday Jun 18

running 48:00 [3]
parc montsouris * 5
fast up the hills for the last couple of laps... decent pace...
tired still - waking up early so not catching up on sleep

Tuesday Jun 17

running 57:00 [3]
6*montsouris - ran the jukola training in my head/map reading... fast enough pace...

Sunday Jun 15

orienteering 1:25:00 [5] 10 km (8:30 / km)
Jukola - leg 6
started around half parst five in the morning. felt fine if a little cold and not nervous but... excited perhaps...

anyway, don't have splits... first leg i arsed up completely... right route but veered left at one point, distraccted by elephant tracks and the desire to run fast. Stupid... lack of experience... probably lost fiveminutes there alone... once i copped the mistake the rest of the leg was easy.

then, apart from a few navigational errors close to controls, and one small error again trying to run too fast, there was one whopper -
got caught by leg 7 runners at a control and ran with them on a longish leg towards the next one... no real problems staying in touch with them. one guy forked left slightly and i continued with the others up a parallel spur... knew i was on the wrong one but continued and 'made it fit'

Stupidity... lack of experience... grrr...

came back to find no map to pass on to Matthias... so no results for me...

over 10 minutes of mistakes easily... not good...

Saturday Jun 14

orienteering 45:00 [3] 5 km (9:00 / km)
Jukola training again

same map, this time without a map following matthias... i like his style... two errors towards the end marred a nice run...

pun was unintentional

run was mid afternoon, during the venla...

Friday Jun 13

orienteering 50:00 [3] 5.1 km (9:48 / km)
Jukola training - 23:30-00:20

ran with eric taking every second control on the training map. made a couple of errors... eric was going faster and better... didn't get to read the map much when he was running...

only just enough light later on. it made reading the map hard, especially in the forest, and brancheskept attacking my head... glad i had a morning leg for the real thing.

Tuesday Jun 10

running 45:00 [2]
4 times parc montsouris... tired and slow... give me belgium any day...

Monday Jun 9

orienteering 1:29:19 [5] 12.14 km (7:21 / km) +415m 6:17 / km
Wolfsbusch Ost - Belgium day 3
Out early in the morning again - temperature back down to a normal 18 or so... running was a pleasure.
Felt good towards the end - running strongly - so i decided to make 5 minutes of mistakes in the last few controls. And this the frst day i didn't make loads of mistakes near the start.
Matthias - 1:29:29
winner 71?

Sunday Jun 8

orienteering 1:44:40 [5] 10.71 km (9:46 / km) +645m 7:31 / km
Beverce (Kleine Schweiz!) - Belgium Day 2

steep holy f***... good stuff... actually felt quite swiss.... steep slopes with fallen branches... more steep slopes... lost a few minutes at the first control cos i hadn't copped that it was back to 1:10000... doh... also at the second... apart from that almost clean run... didn't punch the drinks control but i appear to have been reinstated - whether they allow that for WRE status I don't know...
30 hours later and still no results...
fitness put me well ahead of matthias
winner did 1:30??

Saturday Jun 7

orienteering 1:27:29 [5] 12.99 km (6:44 / km) +270m 6:06 / km
Ommerscheid Nord - Day 1, Belgian 3 days

Drove up the day before with Matthias, Abi (injured) and Anthony Cox (AUS).
A few mistakes early on - despite being fitter matthias was still ahead at the 7th control...
Pretty physical given the low climb... rough running?
Winner (nicolas sillien, bel) did 71 or so...

Thursday Jun 5

running 40:00 [2]
CiteU with Pete... 23h-23h40... a couple of bits fast, most f the first 30 at pete-pace

Wednesday Jun 4

running 1:15:00 [3]
Foret de Meudon, with Matthias

run was nice... not perhaps worth the four hours it took due to the strikes...

couple of hills...

Sunday Jun 1
