Tuesday Nov 30

Note
still have a sore throat. day off today and yesterday as a result :(

Sunday Nov 28

orienteering 58:47 [4] 8.5 km (6:55 / km)
rocher demoiselles...
regionale, bleau

not really in the "zone". possibly due to a cold? in any case, started without warming up, lost some time to the first control, made quite a few small mistakes - orienteering into controls wasn't up to scratch. running on auto, didn't have any particular pêche, but kept up a reasonable pace.

nice forest. JM did a very good time of 51xx - chapeau!
forest run 15:00 [2]
warm-down with jm, some of it in terrain. stitch. need to start doing torsal work again :)

Saturday Nov 27

running 49:07 [2]
montsouris, hallberga -didn't read whhole lot

Friday Nov 26

running 40:16 [2]
cite. after 8pm... working too hard :)

Wednesday Nov 24

trail run 52:33 [3]
orsay,
with head lamp
four hill loops
plus one roundabout one (off to the left on the uphill)

not sure descendding in the dark is a good idea - my mum'd have a cardiaque if she knew...

feeling a bit better after 10 hours in bed last night, but still got catching up to do

Tuesday Nov 23

trail run 1:19:39 [3]
traditional orsay loop, with a two minute extension at the start. pre lunch

not enough sleep recently, but running quqite well. legs close to rickety all the same... must be careful
running 9:00 [2]
warm-up for stretching
stretching 45 [1]
45 minutes stretching, class... evening... tired... ZZZzzzzz

must prepare tutorial... agghhh

Monday Nov 22

trail run 47:35 [3]
orsay,
supposed to be hilly run early on in the day, but circumstances conspired against it - gym closed in the morning, lunch and then a productive talk with advisor took what remained of the daylight... and days will get shorter before they get longer

did a couple of lengths of the lower path above the road in mist-reflected lamplight

Sunday Nov 21

running 1:32:49 [3]
Parc de Sceaux
A bit more clear-headed than I have been most of the week. Took an Eskilstuna map but only "ran" four or five legs... thinking about other things, did some maths etc.

Nice weather for ducks, actually not too bad for running....

Saturday Nov 20

running 1:03:28 [2]
Parc Montsouris
guh.
plan was to do 1h20 in Parc de Sceaux, but got back late from the Palais de la Decouverte, and closing time was approaching.

Thursday Nov 18

orienteering 50:48 [4] 8 km (6:21 / km)
21c
Bois Rond
Crifcou comp'n, so no SI

won by a long way i reckon, still haven't seen results but none of the locl elite are running thursfday afteernoon student evnts :)

probably lost 2-3minutes of which one one the first control. grrr.
orienteering 28:00 [2]
Half of the B course afterwards at an easy pace... tired and hhungry so didn't do the whole thing. Legs still not recovered after the weekend.

nice place, nice map, nice day!

Wednesday Nov 17

trail run 45:46 [2]
another recovery run, a bit faster than the last one, Orsay. Morning before tutorial, otherwise would have done a little more. Might make tomorrow longer than planned, after the race.

Still tired after Sunday, but starting to get energy back.

Tuesday Nov 16

running 10:00 [2]
warm up jog before stretching class
stretching 50 [1]
class. learnt a couple of new directions to pull my muscles

Monday Nov 15

trail run 44:47 [2]
cote d'orsay

felt surpprisingly in one piece after yesterday's race. not that there isn't stiffness...

day off tomorrow, jog/run wed, crifcou race thu, easy fri, one long one normal the weekend (technique?)

Sunday Nov 14

orienteering 2:20:51 [4] 22.4 km (6:17 / km) +450m 5:43 / km
spiked:22/30c
VAux de Cernay
RandO du Castor

second, one minute behind Stephane Toussaint. I thought the big challaenge would be from LL, but he made a big route choicce error at the 14th...

made a couple of bloomers, notably left the 15th as if it wer the 16th; descended and had to run back up the hill, losing a couple of minutes and was back in the leading pack of three.

mass start, spent quite a bit of the first ten controls n the lead,

very tired after the race, having run without camelbak, also sore - legs ripped to shreds... it was fun seeing what i could do, but not very intelligent :)

actually started tiring after 1:20, but it made more of a diff mentally than physically. kept running hard until close to the end.

don't want to do route or race analysis here.... suffice to say ST had a steadier run than me, i read contours better in general but he corrected mistakes faster... several places where the race was lost, once or twice orienteering wise, a couple of times in brambles!!!

Saturday Nov 13

orienteering 14:52 [5]
spiked:18/20c
etangs de cergy neuville

sprint race organised by the wonderful acBeauchamp

nice place, another of these articial parks the french are so fond of... took forever to find, walking from gare de neuville universite.... first control and start had to be put back out for me!!!

ran fast from cold, not the best of ideas but it was only a short eassy sprint so survived.... won with a minute to spare too - no vanniers which made it easier...

had planned a long warm down but it was late :(

Thursday Nov 11

running 37:01 [2]
parc mtsouris
rakove ravni map (OOcup day1)

boring. recovery run

Wednesday Nov 10

trail run 1:17:51 [3]
orsay loop, the traditional one

today's variation was to wear the rockrider backpack with water pouch... camelbak style, but larger... not sure yet how much i drank. system is a good idea but i think it might slow me down a bit for the first half of the randO

what to do this weekend..........

Tuesday Nov 9

trail run 54:25 [3]
s'pose it's time to get more accurate. forest run was meant to signify running in forest - on rough trails or terrain, anywhere other than parks&roads essentially. but most of it happens around orsay where it is almost exclusively trailrunning...

as was today, up and down and then around twice. felt ok. would have gone for a bit longer but risked not getting lunch
running 10:00 [2]
warm up for stretching class, jogging in the gym hall
stretching 50 [1]
nothing too strenuous (class)

Sunday Nov 7

orienteering 1:05:07 [5] 8.8 km (7:24 / km)
spiked:14/18c
Rocher de la Reine
Régionale, not that knowing that would have changed anything.

Beautiful day, beautiful forest, good planning - one sloppily placed control and a few mistakes for being perfect :)

Fabrice ran 59something. I probably made 5 minutes of mistakes, so I'm not too far off (if i ever have a clean run!)

caught wbouvier at the second - running against each other for the rest of the race. he spent more time map reading than me, to less good effect! fit bugger, would kill me in a trail or terrain run. although i did manage to burn him on the last long leg through the heather :)

tired qfter the lqst few dqys of trqining. really tired now!
must stop making sloppy mistakes. next week is the randO, so will have to take it easy mid-week
running 20:00 [2]
five minute warm up and 17 down

Saturday Nov 6

running 1:20:11 [2]
Parc de Sceaux

three of the parcours sportif laps (extended to over 4km?)
had a chat with the guardians to try to find a map... no luck. also stopped to look at some old cars, model T etc. - incl a steam-powered one and a two-seater peugeot with chairs in th eforward axe

nice day, not TOO cold

Friday Nov 5

forest run 1:01:36 [3]
orsay, hill reps...
13 minutes to get to the start, 6 hill loops, startet off averaging 5minutes, down to 4'30-40 for the last few. I have done them in 4 minutes, so not as intense as it could be, but more than intense enough until the next three weekends are done with.

funny the way downhilling fast gets easier with each rep (as did uphilling)

Thursday Nov 4

running 47:01 [3]
parc montsouris. break (not incl) after 13 mins to talk to julien s.

guh

Wednesday Nov 3

forest run 1:17:00 [3]
evening run, dark these days. first time out with a headlamp, only fell once!!!
single LED light is sufficient, once used to it, but it requires concentration. good thing i know the path well.

the lamp should get me training through the winter. incidentally, with lamp trail running becomes more llike terrain running - more last moment changes of direction, less sure footing etc.

Tuesday Nov 2

Note
didn't bring headlamp to work. working well, so didn't want to break rhythm... tired now... must go food shopping tomorrow (and running too!) guh

Monday Nov 1

running 39:30 [3]
cite, evening.

had quite a bit to drink last night - not fallin gover or doing anything too embarassing at the party downstairs, but enought to affect me today. included some nice polish vodka!

running fine for maybe tweny-five minutes, then it went strange. big temperature variations (ears cold, temples warm, collarbone cold, shoulders warm etc and quite a bit of pressure in the head, so slowed down quite a bit and gave up early.

still a bit strange until i got food into me twenty minutes after the run.

is ly body telling me not to drink???
