Sunday Oct 26

orienteering 1:45:40 [5] 10 km (10:34 / km) +450m 8:38 / km
Pradis - Coppa Italia - HE mass start butterfly.
about 3.5km per loop - first one i did well, the following two I was shattered. concentration was super-difficult... made it through without any fatal mistakes.... 21/22 miuntes behing tavernaro. - only a couple behind aafter the first loop. For the second two loops I had to look at the map too often. Couldn't remember anything...

terrain was superb - limestone, rocks, green, white, more rock, route choice, difficult execution - dolomites to provide a stunning backdrop... sunny and cool.
... look forward to seeing splits.

Friday Oct 24

running 1:20:00 [3]
Casa mia - villa giulia - up to the east along the ridge until meeting civilisation again - back the same way more or less to casa mia....
sleet and snow from villa giulia height up. Rain for the other ten minutes! shorts and O-top - it was great. Took a while to warm up after...

cycled to ICTP (30mins) today saturday. 6 degrees. brrr

Tuesday Oct 21

running 1:00:00 [3]
ICTP up the hill to Prosecco, then dumped the rucksack and ran around and about over to Santa Croce and back. Random bits of climb... over 300m in total surely... probably ran for 80 minutes but stopped in places where I hit greener areas...
weather was nice - post-rain fresh, so picked up a lot of water running. Got (a) cold waiting for the bus...

don't know what my knees think. it'll be a while before they are happy

Saturday Oct 18

running 5:00 [1]
Brandy-fuelled walk up (?sienem) a hill on the outskirts of zagreb... 1h15 up I think... beans and beer at the top :)

couple of twinges from the knees... hopefully it's a good idea to take a week without running. start again tuesday.

Tuesday Oct 14

running 1:10:00 [3]
Adriatico - Mte Belvedere and down to no 4 bus route. It was dark by then so I didn't want to do the last 15 minutes through the woods... knees still a bit swollen after

Saturday Oct 11

orienteering 1:10:00 [3]
Santa Croce map - probably 15 mins run to/from the start

Really nice orienteering, not too difficult but required care. rocky underfoot. Nice view from the top at sunset!

Ran a course without controls for training. distance estimates to follow.
Knees not great yet (slthough i don't think i did much damage this day). Upper tendon joining right knee seems like it might be a little torn (?)
Will take it easy on hills for the time being (as in, not race them!).

Thursday Oct 9

running 1:18:00 [4]
ICTP Trieste, kept to the Strada Napoleonica, then Mte BElvedere and down by Villa Giulia.
About as fast as I would run it outside of race situation... which makes it around 10 miles?? and ?400m climb :)
che bella

Tuesday Oct 7

running 1:30:00 [3]
ICTP-Trieste via Mte Belvedere...

not too fast cos i had a half stitch most of the way... legs still feel a bit brittle.

Sunday Oct 5

running 33:00 [5] 8.4 km (3:56 / km)
Race Campo Sacro-SantaCroce and back - 8.4km, a bit of climb -not sure exaclty how long i was yet. either 33.17 or 32.17 I think, and took 20 seconds to get to the start line.
Intensity was a 4.5, started maybe 300th, consistently overtaking people the length of the race which means I started too slow! Finished 41st... maybe five or six minutes behing the winner??? Could have done two minutes faster easily, I reckon.
Had full control up until the last 300m metres...

Saturday Oct 4

orienteering 17:10 [5] 1.9 km (9:02 / km) +70m 7:38 / km
Sprint Race, forest, Ig, 20km S of Ljubljana.

Three mistakes in the last three controls... (doh) ... no reason...
trying to run too fast...

... winner may have done 12?
15min warm up!

Thursday Oct 2

running 1:00:00 [3]
ICTP-Opicina... then the tram :)

Legs don't really feel worse than they did a couple of days ago... I reckon if they stand up to the two races this w/e without any (excessively) ill effects, I should be able to start running normally again next week...

Time was very approximate. quite possibly oonly 50 minutes?
