Tuesday Jan 31

trail run hills 1:00:40 [3]
8 côtes d'orsay after dark. fastest uphill around 1:45, most 2:10-2:30

Monday Jan 30

bike 1:20 [1]
to and from university. nice paths, very, very little on road.

Sunday Jan 29

orienteering 1:12:00 [3]
Mont Avaux.

Freezing with black ice on everything. Brnaches and rocks were lethal.
Went slowly. Nothing particularly exciting happened. Got cold afterwards waiting around. Must try not to get sick :)

Map really wasn't very good at all at all.

Saturday Jan 28

orienteering race 1:00:51 [3]
Le Manet - Montigny ls Bretonneux
course au score which i ran like a normal event. Accelerated for the last third to try to make it back within the hour but missed out ever so closely :(

orienteering was not exactly random, but consisted often of running in the right general direction and relying on radar once within 75 metres since the map detail wasn't consistent, or horrendously accurate.
bike 1:30 [2]
2*45 minutes cycling to and from the race.

Persisting with not recording non-running training sessions as time/60

Thursday Jan 26

trail run hills 1:00:08 [2]
cotes d'orsay...
must start doing these loops more often... really great...

came after doing maths from 9am to 8.30pm without much by way of a break. any better way to celebrate one's birthday?
C • Happy birfday. What flavor of ... 2

Wednesday Jan 25

Note
bought myself a bike.... got home too late to run :(

Tuesday Jan 24

running 47:38 [2]
chateau de la madeleine. night time

Sunday Jan 22

orienteering race 2:00:00 [3] 17 km (7:04 / km)
Auxerre (well, south of)
foret d'hervaux
Overtaken by tg at one point, got the next conrtol before him, together to the one after. then there was one in the green... i didn't bother waiting for hi so i overshot by a long way... he was going at 70%
died at about 1h30... need a lot of fitness training to get back to where i was...

race time includes two lace-stops and one stop early on to dump ballast :)

felt good to complete the race, longest i'd run in quite a while... legs strangely didn't die, so maybe they are getting better :)

Saturday Jan 21

orienteering race 15:30 [5]
le bois dieu
french squad training sprint race. had a pretty good run, not finishing near the bottom of the pack. tg won in 12.30 or so i think. mostly flat orienteering. not the most interesting bit of france
orienteering race 35:30 [4]
le bois dieu, middle distance
won in under 25?
not last again :) overtaken with one third to go by JMP, worked hard to keep up with him... he was a little sloppy for once which made it easier...
forest run 10:00 [3]
warm-up

Thursday Jan 19

orienteering race 1:10:00 [3]
5 min warm up plus a nice tranemo on the wonderful map of larchant

leg died again late on. what's up with it????????

orienteering this weekend, then rest and/or cycling...

Wednesday Jan 18

running 30:00 [3]
includes two côtes d'orsay
orienteering 18:00 [4]
First ever orienteering done on the campus of Orsay, test-running a map i'm making. Course was planned ages ago, so it sort of had some merit, and it was night, and i fell once, and the map is really cool imho :)

still needs contours and stuff, but otherwise...

Monday Jan 16

trail run 46:41 [2]
up in the woods above the studio. a third off-trail. am i going to get back into a proper routine?

kept it easy so only had a slight twinge in the tendons. not fit enough to go much faster these days in any case

Sunday Jan 15

running 33:40 [2]
laundry, chevreuse canal, back by trail...

Saturday Jan 14

orienteering 55:00 [2]
nice, gentle but technical training organised by sandra B77 on the Tour Denecourt map. didn't run hard in the interest of preserving my legs... must get them better and restart proper training if i'm ever to regain the fitness i had last august.

Thursday Jan 12

orienteering race 57:00 [4]
bois d'arcy
CRIFCOU
etape 3

won with a margin i believe. This despite getting tired and weak halfway around and limping a bit too as my left leg rear tendons gave way. no control collecting for me today.

nice traçage by MJ

Wednesday Jan 11

running 1:15:26 [3]
laundry, then to orsay by CAT/plateau, Gif, bures. train back home!

legs more or less survived

Sunday Jan 8

orienteering race 1:10:00 [3]
Escarcets

Tranemo
only ran the first leg because beforehand and in the second half of the firsst loop i was really feeling my tendons... the adrenaline got me around the first half.

maps tough to read. interesting orientering!! dropped by the main bit of the pack around the second/third control. met up with a few orienteers after... tamtam notably;

print quality wasn't great - map had two shades of grey for rocky ground, the lighter one i thought was white... which didn't help.

nice terrain, added a few more images to my mental bank.

Saturday Jan 7

orienteering race 1:03:01 [3] *****
hmmm what a way to start the year. winner ran the course in under 20 mminutes i think (ok he's a world chamipon)

i took well over thirty minutes to get the first control!!

afterwards only mad ea couple of small mistakes. felt the lack of training the last while.
orienteering race 32:00 [5]
Escracets, Toulon direction
Second of two middle distance races today as part of a french squad weekend...

won in under 20 minutes again. Messed up the first control again, this time only four minutes... afterwards made three mistakes but otherwise was running hard as hard as my fitness would allow, some of it with thibM.

felt a lot better. ground was hard.
orienteering 20:00 [2]
collecting a couple of controls afterwards with ng and jmp

tendons behind knees very very weak. not a good idea not training the past two weeks. not a good idea going out now either.
orienteering 20:00 [1]
Same place again, night orienteering. Score event with a twist.

Legs absolutely screwed so only went out for three controls. night-o isn't particularly easy!!

Thursday Jan 5

Note
back to france today. was going to go for a run, but suffiiciently knackered to give it a miss in favour of sleep.possibly not the best of ideas.

Sunday Jan 1

Note
Happy New Year!

Managed to go up to Dublin forlm Waterfford to celebrate the new year in a swanky penthouse suite of a centraldublin hotel...

Still on antibiotics so no drinking. still half-sick the next few days.
