There was a map exchange thanks be to flying spaghetti monster. The first twelve controls I maybe did one and a half controls well. Then we flipped the map. The next control I was slow but safe across a detailed rough hilltop. The one after I got overtaken by Ravinen bald guy but punched just before. Then I started orienteering a little. One slight zigzag on the next but still met up with Ravinen again at the control... The next leg was long. I followed for the first 500m, then we were running along an unmapped trail, which eventually became a mapped trail. It wasn't really going the direction I wanted to go, so I headed off the trail to the right and into the unknown. This is usually where I start doing silly things, but happily I saw Ravinen guy crossing my line just behind me a minute later... kept forcing... went stupidly off-line the last hundred metres, but kept good speed and corrected immediately. Punched just behind Rav. Nex control was straightforward. The next control Rav threw himself immediately into the brashings, I stayed high on the runnable white as long as possible, then got stuck in the brashings myself. Miserable time, but when I came out I was only 30m back... I let him run away from me, got the control ok, then went offline on the final, nineteenth control...

nice to run better/faster towards the end. Should have started earlier :)

Garmin distance 14.85km

orienteering 35:55 [4] 5.1 km (7:03 / km)

Garmin distance 5.65, and Winsplits claims I didn't make a mistake. If only!! Lots of small mistakes under 30 seconds, maybe lost up to a minute on the long 7th control.

Could do this so much faster (32 or so) if I knew how to orienteer. It was so much easier orienteering on this 1:10000 map :)

Happy enough since I didn't do any major mistakes (timewise).

Note
After training yesterday I started to feel my nose/throat going again.

Gargled lots of salty water before going to bed and stayed there (apart from a break at breakfast) until 1pm... don't feel as bad as I did last night, but def no training for me today.

Need to get more clothes from Poland.

IFKL Club training is pairs. One person runs behind with the map and tells the mapless person in front where to run and what to see (eg run up the hill, down the other side to the left of the spur, across the marsh, up the next hill...

Did it with Antonio. It was fun because it was novel. Antonio seemed better at directing than me...
It got dark so we had to skip the last few controls.

Linnéklassikern
Vänge Syd, a bit w of Uppsala
Boris planned the course. Despite that, I have no complaints ;p reasonably technical, very little dead running. Didn't run particularly well. Partly not used to 1:15, partly had difficulty with navigation and with recognising areas where the runnability would be good.
Also I wan't running super fast. Yesterday was the first classic I ran in months and months, probably since ofestivalen!

Marshes were full :)
C • You've got it easy! 1

Kept it under 2 hours which was my goal for the day. No major blow-ups but not orienteering especially well either.

tired today anad yesterday. took a wee nap this evening before heading out. It was a good idea. Checked HR before going out, dropped to 46... first ten minutes (from Mälarhöjden, where I'm staying at the moment) was on road, then trails by lake Malaren I guess...

orienteering race 43:00 [3]

Arrived yesterday...
IFKL Club Champs, some small map n of sstockholm near where 25manna will be... not an awe-inspiring area, but pretty sweet for a tuesday evening :)

took it easy, as still fighting the vestiges of a sore throat or some such. made a couple of small silly mistakes and one route choice error. 12 minutes down on GG
