running 56:20 [3]

Barcelona,
form Hostel Mare del Deu up the hill behind (with small park), around to the arse end of PArk Gruell, (actually the park beyond), back through gruell, did a bit of sightseeing - gaudi architecture and whatnot. Out for quite a while. Running shorts and singlet for the first time this year!!!

orienteering race 2:40:56 [4] ****
154c

Bois Rond - O Verte Dose
World Record Attempt!!

Managed to not punch the last water control, suffering as I was from thirst and hunger, denying myself a place in the books. Fabrice Vannier and JM Delaume proved their class completing the record in 2h04/06 respectively. Stars!
Weather was nice, not too hot and a bit sunny.

As for the race, the first 60 controls flew by, despite making several mistakes. Afterwards I started suffering. Running became harder due to tiredness and I slowed down, although I was already well off the pace. Not that I was hoping to challenge given my lack of fitness.

Lovely terrain, made the orienteering a real pleasure. Map link in the discussion page.

trail run 1:19:00 [3]

Trail Run Orsay, from the maths dept. Ran part of the return half quite fast, first time feeling halfway fit for ages. Started in the rain, cleared up after maybe 20 minutes.

running 20:00 [2]

To and from the Relay, Inishbofin roads.

orienteering race 31:00 [5] ****

Inishbofin, Irish Relay, first leg (no team).

More technical than the classic for some unforgiveable reason. Good stuff, but too tired (or bad at orienteering?) to do t well. Same course as Avelino Pinto, we leapfrogged, he finished first by a couple of seconds.

Got cold and wet waiting around afterwards - it was dry for the first leg.

running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

To and from and warm up for IOC Classic race,

orienteering race

Irish Champs,
Inishbofin.
Still haven't drawn in my route.

Leading at the first control!! Then messed up the second, didn't count the reentrants properly. One bad route, one major wobble and a couple of small probs and I might have lost 6 minutes total. Main problem was fitness because the courses were planned easy - the terrain was fantastic and technical. Reading a map became tough as tiredness set in (from control 2?).

6th place I think. About where I belong gven my bad navigation and low fitness levels. Must get back in shape!!

AndrewQ Kicked ass again in a really excellent time of 62 minutes (way too short for an irish champs)
