orienteering race 1:17:24 [4] **** 8.7 km (8:54 / km)

La Mer de Sable
Poligny-Nemours

Nice place, pity about the weather... blue skies, heading on past 30 degrees as the day progressed.... scorcher. And much of the race wasn't under real forest and that which was yellow was sand... it was tough to keep moving out there... navigation was interesting too, enough to make me make a few mistakes, perhaps somewhat induced by the heat.
Makes me wonder why the hell I'm running the French 5days in 30 odd degree heat with no cover from the sun...

It appears I won, which is somewhat bemusing. I made mistakes, I didn't run fast, but no-one else was running wonderfully either and the elites weren't around. Passed AC after he made a couple of huge mistakes, he caught me again later on, both of us were a little sloppy, then I made a bigger mistake and he got away... what a slog, especially the run in on the hot sand... got a couple of blisters out there.
