Went to bed at 9:30, thinking I'd be up at a reasonable hour to go training... stayed in bed until 12.45.

Hmmm.

Around New York Presbyterian Hospital. Another place it would be nice to have a map of, not that it would be especially exciting, but still.

Happy Paddy's Day people!

I overheard some animated discussions about cricket at work today. It seems spectators get more excited than the players.

Blue Mtn
after work
forest was beautiful
makes you glad to be alive
and an orienteer

The woods are super-runnable, where I was at least. Only found a couple of small patches that definitely merit a bit of green.

Stopped at one point where a two-layer cliff was on the map, and I only really saw one-and-a-half in reality. Apart from that, was moving most of the way pretty well. Went off line a couple of times towards the end, but the map is a joy!

I feel incredibly lucky to be under an obligation to go into these woods many times in the next couple of months!

Feeling ordinary tired today, rather than sick, hopefully that is the case.

Plucked my first tick of the year in the bath yesterday.

There is a surprisingly large number of decent sprint areas in Westchester County, especially given the dearth of maps. I'd love to see five or ten of them mapped and a wee sprint league start up, or a couple of multi-sprint weekends. Getting permits will be a pain, I'm sure.

Edit: link "More" below the photos below now works...

Went for a map walk around Blue Mtn, east of the shooting range. Interesting.

On the way out, I tried stopping at the Vets Hospital, but there was a police checkpoint. Note to self: next time bring a driving licence.

Stopped off at Croton Reservoir on the way back. It's been dry for several days now, so the water levels have dropped.

All was calm:

Or was it?
