Well, that didn't go so well. Not enough sleep the past two weeks and I was feeling crap, hoping that feeling would go away once I started but nope. Couple of small mistakes, then plopped my left leg down a hole twice in thirty seconds without doing any serious damage, strangely. Then lost a small bit of time, corrected to within 5m of control, checked the (rightly) unmapped boulder, nothing there, toddled away, came back a little more sure of myself, found control. Motivation was seeping away. Shoes were too big. Got another few controls sort of okay, but walked some bits. Crossed the road, then spiked the next control, map made no sense going to 12, I was confused, eventually decided to return to 11, oops, code wasn't right, and I had checked... 109... whereas I had 108 and 209... zzz.... went off to 12, stopped for thirty seconds, decided to start running again., mostly made it to 13, then on the way to 14 decided to re-tie my shoelaces... did it again later... shoes were tighter, less chance of rolling, but hurt more, wanting to give blisters, still didn't feel great... and laces needed tightening *again*. Should probably try a smaller size, sacrificing my toes, or a different brand. Back to Icebugs? Then walked for a bit, admiring the 5m contours describing 1m features (ok, in one place there were 2 full contours and a whopping 3m height diff). Jogged a bit to the last control, had a chat with Hirppa, then finished the course.
Painful. Wonderful woods, but mind wasn't in it today.
Note
NORT TV fail... they just spent two minutes comparing Kyburz with Kaas, Kaas kicking his ass... but... it was Andreas, not Matthias. Oops. Meanwhile they are ignoring Bergman.
