Incidentally, Talvivaara is just down the road from where WOC was last year.

Knee still a bit dodge, so only a short jog.
Right foot is starting to feel bruised again. Will probably take two or three days off in a week.

OVH: Fail. Followed WC results, tractrac is java-based so didn't work. Sort of made up for it with lots of geeking on Sunday.

of which 25 minutes before. Afterwards I was mostly ready to throw up.

A jog to stretch the legs, included 3 hill loops. Legs don't feel too bad, considering.

Oranssivalkoinen huhtikuu alkoi tänään, siksi otin eilisen kartan lukemaan. I tried to extract the salient features visible from afar, to make the navigation safe and fast.

Woo, night-O in Kaitalämpi :)

A couple of mistakes, but mostly in control. Fun fun. Eikka ran 51 I think, so a ways behind. I didn't manage to stay in almost race mode and the pace dropped a few times.

Conditions were good, only the flat marshy stuff was icy, there were a few patches of frozen snow on the northern slopes but with good grip. At one point I was saying to myself, hey the ice is your friend.

All of ten seconds later, one of my legs was wet and sore after breaking through the ice and losing a bit of skin to the crust.

Sprinttipäivä

Morning, Pasila, intervals, alternating between race pace and route choice (tempo), with Tomasso and Eikka. I was the slow poke. Good area, good orienteering.

Analysis session in Pirkkola (led by national sprintticoach).

Afternoon Oulunkylästä, two intervals, 6 mins and 8.40. Map could do with a couple of uncrossable cliffs added, though on the plus side I didn't get disqualified for descending one, intact.

A bunch of jogging before and after, probably underestimated, given I did over 30 mins before the first session.

So fun to be out training in the sun with good people. By the second session I'd nearly forgotten I hadn't slept enough.
