Orienteering 1:03:33 [3] 7.51 km (8:28 / km) +402m 6:41 / km

Since the HVO/DVOA dual meet was on the way home I figured I'd stop by to see what I had left in my legs. Not much, but it wasn't bad either.

Spectacular terrain and an old map that has held up really well. When we ran here last year the leaves had all fallen. This year there were enough left to make the terrain much more fun.

On 3-4 I was much closer to the trail to the west than I realized. I wasted time and energy cutting through the woods when I could have just stuck to that. But I didn't realize it and thought I was going on a more direct line to 4. My bad.

Note

So based on a tip from Eric W., I made a Karttapullautin map of the Whittingham WMA in North Jersey.

I've struggled to convert NJ data to meters for a while. I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to handling Lidar, but I am learning!

Last night, I finally figured out how to convert the data to meters. And this area looks sooooooo fun. Contour interval of 2.5m, by the way.

Whittingham.

Nice and easy on the Drive. Saw my friend Sean near Valley Green and stopped for a chat. Always a cherry guy.

Circuit Training 30:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (5:00 @3) + (15:00 @4)

Man, this Freeletics stuff is getting tough to motivate myself for. It really helps to use the coach application since the weekly workout schedule gives me a clear set of goals for that week. But after a day of work and a run, I do not feel innately motivated to go do 100 burpees, 200 high knees, 100 pushups, and 200 split lunges. Buff quoi.

Running 1:24:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @3) + (18:00 @4) + (6:00 @5) 13.52 km (6:13 / km) +460m 5:18 / km

Hill repeats

Workout was 6x(3 minutes at 75%, 1 minute at 90%, jog down recovery)

I was still pretty beat up from Sunday's race. But I made a deal that I'd do 4 of them. Once I got to 4 I asked myself if I could do one more. Did it. Asked myself again if I could do one more. Did it. And now I made it through a workout that beforehand I didn't think I could. Sports give you such excellent opportunities to practice going beyond what you believe are your limits.

On another note, I'll give $40 to the first person who makes it through at least a 5k orienteering course in one of those T-Rex suits. Video proof is needed.
