Mother Nature - Oh, you were tired of the snow? Well here's some calf deep mud to change it up.

Me - You are so generous.

1st place at the Sanctuary Gallop 10k. Beat Gabriel Rodriguez again. This time it meant a lot more because he's been able to train well for a while. But I was stronger today.

A true cross country course, not like the grass-covered tracks I ran on in college. Mud, some snow, hills, sharp turns.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Double Squatch.

Fairly deep snow at the start. But since it was a loop course, it was packed down by my 3rd loop. But the sun was out and the temperature went up fast. So that nicely packed snow quickly turned to slush. Wooooooo!

I had Steve Lange with me for a lot of it. On the final one I decided to take it as a tempo. 5.2k with 110 meters in 22:27. Not bad. Some more speed tomorrow.

Exploring Bruce Lake Natural area. This is a protected area within the state forest. No development at all except for trails. Would have been much more impressive if I couldn't hear the traffic at a low hum from I-84.

There also might be a crisis afoot in Sleepy Stroudsburg. My roommate was recently let go from his job unfortunately. He's mentioned leaving the area as an option. No decisions have been made yet, but there may need to be some restructuring in the future.

First time snowshoeing. Went out to explore the Pocono Escarpment near Milford. Really beautiful area. Between 2 and 8 inches of snow. Just enough to make it interesting.

Easy morning out on the east river.

Glad there's still snow on the ground. Going to try out some snowshoe running tomorrow at some of the higher elevations.

Exploring FDR SP.

When I asked the GAOC locals, there seemed to be a general consensus that, out of the GAOC maps, FDR was the most relevant to Oak Mountain in terms of topography and vegetation. For those not aware yet, Oak Mountain is where the middle for the 2021 World Games will be held.

Erin and I want to prioritize the World Games in Alabama because it's one of the few times that we can do training camps years out like many European teams do.

I have a lot of initial impressions from FDR, which I'll be posting shortly.
