Note

I woke up really struggling with motivation today because of all the uncertainty at the moment.

So based on everyone's great comments, I've formed a tentative plan with a little bit of everything that makes me feel pretty excited.

I'm going to focus on two races:
-The 2008 US Team Trial Men's Middle at Hickory Run
-The 1993 WOC Men's Short Distance Course

I'm also considering the 2012 NAOC Men's Middle, but the land access issue there makes it trickier.

The goal is to get as close as possible to a "perfect race" for me for those two courses. I'm not sure what a perfect race would look like. So that's why it seems like a good goal for me.

I'm considering multiple phases to this, with the first phase aiming to keep my heart rate within a certain range and the next phase focusing solely on racing.

I've also signed up for the Barkley Fall Classic 50k wait-list. It seems like a bit of long shot that I'd get in. But I'm also pretty confident I'd be able to race it quite well, and it could be a lead-in to a future Barkelys attempt.

Also, if the situation permits it, I would love to host the Unofficial US Karttapullautin Champs in the summer. Only three course levels. No flags, just GPS punching. But beautiful forests and good friends : )

4 PM

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (14 @1) + (8:58 @2) + (43:12 @3) + (7:02 @4) + (10:34 @5) 12.44 km (5:38 / km) +281m 5:03 / km
ahr:143 max:184

8x1:15 hills @ 5k effort followed by 10s stride after each repeat.

Same heart rate, same time, but was able to go 20-25m further on each repeat than my last time here. That's a satisfying feeling.

Biking 30:00 intensity: (48 @1) + (18:42 @2) + (10:30 @3)
ahr:127 max:140

Started out on the warmup for today's scheduled hill reps, but my body just wasn't feeling it. And since this week is planned as a rest week, I decided a short spin and the hill reps tomorrow would be better.

Wednesday Feb 17 #

3 PM

Running 50:00 intensity: (13 @1) + (5:36 @2) + (43:13 @3) + (58 @4) 10.45 km (4:47 / km) +118m 4:32 / km
ahr:137 max:152

Tuesday Feb 16 #

4 PM

Running 1:15:00 intensity: (9 @1) + (12:55 @2) + (43:18 @3) + (8:05 @4) + (10:33 @5) 15.06 km (4:59 / km) +265m 4:35 / km
ahr:142 max:172

6 x 2:30 hill repeats at 10k effort.

The heart rate and time were the same as last week. But I was ran about 20-30 meters more on each repeat than what I did last week.

So that's good.

(rest day)

A rest day? What am I supposed to do with myself now?
