Orienteering race (NOL Sprint) 23:17 [3] 2.6 km (8:57 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus 28

Only two courses available for the NOL sprint and I really wanted to run it. This wasn't a hard course and I think my route choices were ok. No mistakes but just didn't have the speed. Ankle a little sore with stair ascending and descending and going around corners. Enjoyable race.

Orienteering race 1:01:35 [3] 4.73 km (13:01 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon

State Series event run along side the NOL. Late start due to chasing money from the Elites and the start list sheet for Course 6 having no spots available until nearly 3pm. If I had been paying attention I would have realised that I should have been running Course 7 instead. Didn't find out until the finish when they said I had mp'd.

Ankle was taped extra well and was fine until the second loop and through those white rocks. Had to pick my way through them and I kept going over on my ankle. Didn"t have any problems with any of the controls but did take a long safe route to 1 and used the track to & when I probably should have headed up the hill to the saddle and then onto the pit.

Clive and Marian surprised us by turning up this afternoon. We got to hear all about their amazing holiday to Sth America and Antarctica.

YMCA Staff class. This was fun and very very funny. Glad to say I was not the most unco-ordinated person there. Lots of hip shimmering.

Big group of 8 so we were in pairs for most of the session. Big weights with lots of repetitions. Had to dig deep to get through it.

Somewhere in Watsonia which was about 29 mins from home. Forgot my watch so idea of distance and time is from the O clock. Dithered big time for the first two controls and never really chose the best route. Had to get an extra one out to the east of the map because I was too busy dithering on the west side. Did try to jog most of he way. Ankle not happy with the time out there so will need to do some strengthening exercises.

Reverse Merri Creek loop with Annette. Not sure why the distance was shorter than usual. Didn't take any shortcuts. Annette wanted to know all about Orienteering so we spent the whole walk talking about that. Even told her the story of my first event. In the rain, at age 7, with a broken arm....Added that in because fizzyred knows the story well, and Mum reads this log.

Have missed the last 3 Tuesdays due to Kitchen Garden duty. Have now gone to fortnightly volunteering in the Kitchen. The kids and volunteers are spending this week harvesting veges, fruit and herbs and then stripping that part of the garden. The kids then have to map out the garden and plan the new plantings. Sounds fabulous.
