Orienteering race (Delamere) 57:27 [3] ** 5.78 km (9:57 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons

Started off well, but then after losing 3 mins retrieving my shoe and emptying it of Delamere marsh before it fitted back on, I slowed down, lost a lot of time scrabbling around in mucky forest looking for a ditch slighter larger but no wetter than all the other un marked ones around it, then again when I looked in the darker green instead of the white for another ditch, although I could have been in the right bit, you can never tell with Delamere. after that I was fine, forced myself to run around the tracks to avoid all the confusion of dodgy vegeation.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.2 km (25:00 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons

Running up and down while in the pen waiting for the mass start.

Orienteering race 24:31 [5] ***** 3.8 km (6:27 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons

Couldn't run as fast as the rest in the mass start and planned ahead, was annoyed to appear onto the dunes behind a lot of people walking while planning along the single file track through the bracken, broke free at the top of the first dune though. Ran through the line of people that had sprinted off at the start, then once I had got clear spotted Matt P ahead with his hat, then as we left the dunes for the golf course we were joined by Zac and Matt E, couldn't run at the same speed as them on the flatter ground, so ended up dropping a few seconds on the last few easier controls, but still beat them all to the thicket on the golf course because of route choice around the bushes.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons

Got to the clear station part way there and realised i had forgotten my bib, so sprinted back to the assesmbly, then when I got back to the start after a quick run, I actually had 20 mins to spare, so could have doe it at a leisurely pace if I had wanted.

Orienteering race 46:40 [5] *** 6.0 km (7:47 / km) +350m 6:01 / km
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons

Even though I like sand dunes, I felt more at home on the open hillside, no mistakes today, just a little bit too physical for me.
