other (Roller Blading) 1:10:00 [2]

Night roller blading on well-lit and quiet roads near Bolton with Leanimal and Goose. Feeling MUCH much better on the skates thanks to Goose's excellent teaching, although Leanimal still dusted me as we headed back to the car. I actually found myself not hating these things so much this time...

Perfect Fall riding day up at next year's STT host site. Pure awesomeness...

Note
(rest day)

Spent the day helping Mr. & Mrs. Flatfoot with their Halloween-themed Trek or Treat night trail running race in Oakville. Good fun as usual, but as I was hiding some ghoulish props in the woods to be set out later, I stepped on an old plank with a 4-inch nail sticking out of it, which became embedded in my shoe and the bottom of my foot. Doing a lot of hobbling today as there is some bruising and swelling around the puncture, but it doesn't appear too serious (and my tetanus is current).

Darn it all - I was going to log some serious roller blading hours today... :)

course scouting 6:00:00 [2]

Awesome, awesome day of RockstAR scouting up at Bark Lake. The colours were ridiculous...but not nearly as ridiculous as the snow! Fortunately it didn't stick, but I definitely needed to keep moving to stay warm. If only we could host this event in the Fall...

other (Roller Blading) 45:00 [3]

Took Phatty's inlines to Sunnybrook Park - little less of a gong show this time, but kids were definitely laughing at me. I can't blame them, I would have laughed at me too - tall gawky guy on blades much too advanced for his skill level (or lack thereof) with helmet, poles, and every form of protection imaginable. Managed to at least get some semblance of a rhythm going, but pretty much just wanted to dump the skates and take off on a trail run (same sensation I usually get when I try x-c skiing...)

Very wet 18km road run

Sunday Oct 4, 2009 #

running 2:00:00 [3]

Awesome trail run and hill repeats across Kelso, Rattlesnake and Hilton Falls. Unfortunately, plans to practice on the inlines were foiled again by rain. Yikes - Portugal is only a month away!

course scouting 2:00:00 [3]

Course scouting for next year's STT - awesome trail running session in the Fall colours, until a thunderstorm blew in. Then it cleared, then another one swept in... very weird weather day. I had brought Phatty's inlines along in the hope of getting some time in on quiet country roads, but I was lucky just to cover off what needed to get done on the trails. I did however, finally find some protection pads in my size - after visiting about 4 other Sport Cheks. Apparently, nobody roller blades in the Fall/Winter?
