Sick...

No way I'll be running 100 miles tomorrow. Browner and I went for a short trek up Badger Mountain this afternoon to see if even switching to the 50k on Saturday might be an option, but it's not gonna happen. 5k of hiking and I'm flat on my back. Crap.

Not complaining much though - this was to be a 'race vacation' from the outset, so now it's just a regular vacation (and a great one at that). Washington is a very cool state - we've had a lot of fun here. Hope to be able to come out again some day and tackle this racecourse - it looks really cool!

Fantastic ride with Browner at Fort Ebey State Park north of Seattle. We paid an obscene amount of money to rent a couple of Salsa 29'ers from the only shop I could find online that offered rentals, but it proved to be very worthwhile. Gorgeous trail system, some pretty sweet bikes and beautiful temps made for an awesome ride - all part of the master plan to log both mountain biking and snowboarding within a 24-hour period. Arrived tonight in Leavenworth, and hitting the slopes tomorrow...

Note

Heading off to Seattle with Browner for a few days of fun before Badger Mountain in eastern Washington on Friday. Little bit concerned that the course was changed to two 50 mile loops from a single one only a few weeks ago (although more so that I only learned this through a Facebook post and not through any pre-race communications). However, apparently the rationale was to feature more of the sections that racers enjoy and less of what they don't (I'm on board with that). Forecast is for 17 degrees and a mix of sun and cloud - I'm definitely on board with that!

Final long run before Badger Mtn - usual routine from Clappison's Corners. Running on TOP of the snow for once was a nice treat, and I could feel a huge difference over previous runs from having taken last weekend off - good sign. Think I'm finally ready for this thing - time to taper!
