Day 3 - thought we should head out ASAP to try to beat the pending storms, which really didn't hit at all. With less weight and improved stroke efficiency (this was the first time in a canoe for either of us since last year), we got back about an hour sooner than expected, which gave us time to stop in Lakefield on the way home for Kawartha Dairy ice cream. Awesome trip!

Day 2 - Heather and I had an ambitious plan to hit our second camp and then do a long paddle loop north beyond it. When we got to the site, we found people still on it from the night before - they had booked their 4-day late and were being moved around from site to site each night. The site they had to go to next was back one lake over a long portage in the direction we had just come from, on which we noticed some really nice sites as we passed through.

A quick re-group on a nearby island later, we decided to site-swap and head back, and spent the rest of the day relaxing on a gorgeous site that we'll definitely be booking next time we're here.

Heather B and I headed into the Kawartha Highlands for a paddle trip with kayak paddles, which I convinced her we should use for training purposes (read: Heather is much more of a canoe purist than I am and prefers canoe paddles on such trips, whereas I'm at the point now where I can't fathom why anyone would want to use such an inefficient tool in a canoe :)

Awesome trip into our first camp (or pretty close to it) with lots of portaging and sunny skies.
