Jog to the bus... and then chasing it for 500m when it didn't stop.

Decent one, not feeling too spritely but moving well, an odd combination.

Borders XC #6 - Peebles - 2nd by 15s
Nice frosty but sunny morning, perfect conditions for racing in a vest+gloves. Tom turned up which was met by a lot of swearing from myself, but got down to business after a few people banter started and tucked in behind him in the front. Stayed this way round the first lap which was fairly brutal, including a 5m grassy bank/wall at about 900m. After this it was a casual jaunt along some spectacular riverside paths and Tom began to put his burners on. Turns out he was intentionally trying to drop me before the hill, which he successfully did by about 15s.
Hit the awfully steep climb (much worse than I expected) and began to crawl up it - felt more like a hill race by this point). Noticed I wasn't losing time though so pushed over the top and sure enough the gap was only about 10s. Final climb went badly though and he got more time on me until about 15s was in it. He held this to the end, unaffected by a bit of a suicidal push down the last technical bit in an attempt to catch him.
Happy enough with that, times look good compared to those of previous years and Tom's in some good shape. All to play for at the final leg now, winner takes the series. Oleg also running very well finishing in 4th, HBT is doing good things to his legs!

Steady
Easy start with Jacob and then some flat cruisy miles round east ed, slowly upping the pace before putting in a good effort to keep the pace constant up Queen's Drive. Wet and cold but somewhat enjoyable.

Hilly 30
Slipping about like mad, never seen the seat so slippery. Got pretty dark as I hit Nether and didn't even notice the light snow, which was beginning to cap the top quite nicely. Descent was dodgy but otherwise escaped in some poor grip Salomons. Feel like I should have seen Scran around (Strava), probably only a few mins ahead.

Shaking out the last of the hangover with Jacob up AS. Awesome evening views. Still grinning ear to ear after a epic SU ball, gonna be riding that high for a while.

Not quite the epic I had in mind for my 20th but much better than I could have hoped for after waking up this morning. Nice sauna and pub to round off a chilled birthday, featuring 8 hours of uni and one really shitty sore throat.
