EOC Sprint Q
Not very good. Many mistakes already to number 1 meaning a no qualification for me. Close in the end but certainly didn't deserve one. Pace was there though, especially towards the end, so that's nice.

Easy lap before travelling to EOC all day. Frosty outside! Escaping just in time (before it's 16c+ for the next week of course...).

Apparently I'm doing a taper now!

Not feeling all that good but woke up after some drills. Probably that crazy ascent! ^^

Halden Intervals - 2km [200m] 2*1km [200m] 6*400m [~65s]

Apparent as soon as we started that this would be quite okay actually. Cruised through the 2km almost effortlessly. Wind on every back straight was a bit unwelcome but just made things a bit like a lactate shuttle as usual. Began to wind things up on the 1kms but still not much effort. Then took the 400s as steady reps gradually getting harder as the short recoveries took a toll.

Wind was quite noticeable now but nice to have a consistent chase on each rep and wind on the back on the home straight. Then Niels "Usain" Hellerud gave the kick of the century on the final 200m of the last rep to land us a 63s. Happy with that, don't think I've ran a lap that fast in my life. Comfortable session, much better than where I was a month ago, nice boost before EOC. Time to start taking things easy.

Nice and easy with Tara and Eva for a bit. Didn't think I'd survive the journey with some dazy feels.

Middle Test

High quality session set up by Eva on some really nice terrain, similar to WC this year.

3DR - http://3drerun.worldofo.com/2d/index.php?idmult%5B...

Ran the entire 5.4km course hard but had a feeling it would be a bit long, especially given how wet it was, plus the hills and tired 'climbing' muscles. Straight into the red zone at the start heading up the wall but orienteering remained on point. Flowing well through the first few but then a bit of a brain freeze to 4 stopping on the wrong side of the hill. Questionable route to 5 but apparently potentially good as the other side of the hill was steep and slippy.

Small hesitation at 6 not seeing the tape (there were a few of these today) but then good through the next section. Really cool rock features/stream combinations as was noticed heading to 9, got an even closer look as I slipped climbing the crag before the control. Then a big (30s) hesitation standing next to 12 considering giving up thinking it was several contours above me, but was actually 5m away, definitely more than 1 knoll here. A bit confused up to 13 as nothing fit, similar vibes that I get before a major mistake but fixed it and took a decent route avoiding the worst to 14.

At this point I began getting tired and the stream-turned-into-a-river to 15 began to challenge my patience. Found a crossing point eventually but the terrain was significantly grimmer after this. Couldn't see the kite at 15, slipped and cut a previous scar on the way to 17 covering my map in blood, moss began to give way under my feet leading to constant slips and the climb to 18 wasn't enjoyed. Poor route out of 19, but 20 was okay!!! This was short-lived however as I switched off to the final control binning a minute, and possible another to the finish avoiding a final very swampy swamp.

Decent up to the point that Thomas stopped at 14 - I probably should have done the same. He binned 50s to 2 so only got me by 25s overall to 14. Quite happy with this given how tired I felt physically (slept for 3 hours after this) and that I was 'racing' for the whole course. Should be in some nice shape for next week if I am careful with the training, so track session tomorrow! World Cup is also going to be in some heavenly terrain if it's even better than this.

Recovery
Standard loop with Emil, nice debriefing chat. Feeling quite good generally, faster than normal. Bit of rain to kick off a grim 36 hours of weather. To the shop after bumping into Gudmund on the way too.
