Orienteering 47:08 [3] 2.0 mi (23:34 / mi) +40m 22:11 / mi

Returned to Lebanon to rerun the brown courses from last month’s A meet. A nice way to spend part of the last day of November tho it was cold (23F) in the shade in parking at 9a when I arrived.

Ran Saturday 2.7k in 47’ which was much, much better than before, but, no mistakes. I was doubly deliberate where needed and, of course, familiar with both course & some of terrain. Took the north route from 3>4, the RC I did not see last month. It certainly saved the slugfest of a climb I found myself stuck with the first time.

1, 2, 3, were pretty straightforward. 4, the long leg, was fine going N to the trail, & keeping track of where to leave & rejoin the main RC trail. To 6, I went all the way to the N end of the uncrossable marsh, then cont’d N to the large rock face and read details from there. What a difference it made.... Leaving 8, I stayed along the marsh & its drainage and then angled sl left to climb, saw the small boulder and then the rock face, much better than before. 4, 6 & 9 were pretty lousy in October.

Returned to the car. Had some crackers & OJ. Had considered going inside DHMC for a coffee. Didn’t really feel like going out again. It was about 10:45, the day still young. After maybe 20’, I gathered sufficient enthusiasm to get out, get warm enough and make my way to the start triangle. I’d flubbed #1 in October. Went straight this time and read all needed features. 2, straight as before. To 3, I went straight thru woods. Much more interesting than the long path route I took the first time. Kept me awake and engaged. 3 to 6 cluster was straightforward. Repeated same routes to 7, 8, 9. #10 went straight - it was the most technical of the weekend but seemed familiar. Got enough features on “rough” O to read to the point. The run-ins both times were no better than before due to right leg weakness.

Not much improved over last time. Accurate though. Legs were flat.
