Orienteering 45:00 [4] *** 4.6 km (9:47 / km) +145m 8:27 / km
spiked:9/11c shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Sunday, became sunny, peasant, dry. Good run except for 9, lost maybe 2' not relocating the first trime off east end of grn marsh just to north, had to go bk to same place. On 8, went to a distracting, unmapped boulder just before, a little lower. #10 was on an unmapped boulder, a bit to the NE, cost 45". George Walker 52, Carl C & Tony F 54-5.

Orienteering race 1:25:55 [4] *** 6.0 km (14:19 / km) +225m 12:04 / km
spiked:13/15c shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Sat of UNO camping. Ran red, haven't done red in many yrs. 85' at Pawtuckaway beats up the lower extremities, mild reinjury of lft 1st mtp, had me limping for more than 5'. Good run, missed one control by 30" and the other, in the most difficult area, by some 4-4.5, finally ran to a big opening, open marsh to the east & was able to relocate easily fm there. Saw alot of a duo, thought they were adventure racers but Ian Finlayson & wife someone suggested. Caught up to them halfway to 6 but never could stay ahead; they finally passed on way to last control. Heard alot of conversation in the woods, couldn't escape! Was planning on night O but deluge was coming, eyeglass nightmare, foot sore not in need of being beaten up so soon, not much future in the eve at rainy Pawtuckaway, so drove the 35' home...pouring outside.... Now ice to the sore spots.

Erin Nielson 70, PG 78, some Kemps low 80's, Ernst 97, Charlie, Phil somewhat after.

Trail/woods running 32:10 [2] 2.2 mi (14:37 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

pre-work w/ Z&M, not much of this considering usual msk early day issues.

Green arcade in the still-cool morning...

Road running 42:22 [3] 4.7 mi (9:01 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Noon, solo, about 90 deg, 90% in shade, Fifth District Rd run, very nice. Surprised a surveyor on a cart track, making a survey for a McMansion, believe I heard.

Trail/woods running 51:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:12 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Noon at SPS, solo, 90 deg in sun so managed mostly shade, paths,
ran along Turkey Pond, been awhile, saw a guy long-swimming there. Wish I
could rid myself of the phobia preventing same. G maps called this 5 in 51', slow paths by pond.

Road running 36:58 [3] 3.85 mi (9:36 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 992

Ran with Diane around the block.

Track 5:11 [4] 1.2 km (4:19 / km)
shoes: New Balance 992

went to BHS with better plan but legs felt yesterday's long run & ran 3:27 & said not a mile & then a 400 & said not even a half & packed up. A bit later than usual so more shade, hot on one side, cool on the other. At least the mistaken Kiwi low-cal pear drink got used up.

Another 800 'loosening up.'

Road/trail 2:07:00 [3] 8.5 mi (14:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

Ashore again same place...Bowditch to Long Pond, made my way around north end of Long Pond & long way back on road, by Head & Duck harbors. Guess on the distance, will have to refine as able. Road/cart track around 9 per/mi & trails and going north of pond more like 15'/mi.

Long Pond, Isle au haut, looking south...
