USOC at Moreau Lake SP - temp just abut perfect in motion. Too bad about the time.... First 4c were good. #5 proved a disaster, unable to relocate after losing contact w/ map amongst marshes. 15-16' error - not sure I've ever managed such on a 600m leg:(. Saw Lori Huberman twice in that vicinity, looking for same I think. After, ok again. 6 to 7 went straight across marsh. Photographer at #8 caused some confusion as to where the control was. #10 got up a bit too early. #11 misread stream jcts (2 of them) but all small potatoes to #5. Should have been low 60's. Way down M60.
Pleased to be w/o L hamstring problem at present. Had some doubt at start as "not right" sensation continues but nothing bothering at present. Slipped on wet log & stretched right ham for some distraction but that does not appear to be amounting to anything.
Great map/terrain/course. Was this all field checked in month of August as legend says...?
Leg 5:
First part along marsh ok - to trail, started up it (right), saw Dave Yee & for some reason turned back along straight route - heading into hardest part of leg & not slow enough to sort things out*. Got into the 5 marsh area & was unable to sort out. Looking now, serenely, early on Lori & I were probably at the cliffs SE end at the southmost marsh, thinking the control should be there. Process of elimination (& southmost w/ mapped bldr in it), sorting out east bounding rockfaces/cliffs should have resulted in a timely relocation...for some, anyway, who have the knack for concentrating when it's truly called for. *Trail portion & dashed line show route that would have worked best for me.
Finch paper company, first view of Glens Falls which proved to be a nice place to spend some time
