Cardio 42:34 [3] 2.39 mi (17:50 / mi) +2m 17:48 / mi

BHS track around 5p. Was a bit warm-humid but shade as well. Rained very hard a few hours before. Legs felt good - would that that were a common occurrence!

Note

Past few days were on the boat, drive up and back and over to Fox I. Thoroughfare. 200 mile drive these days is tiring. Had a good book on tape for a change though, so less NPR. Had lumbago Wednesday morn with a tilt, not really clear why. Still there but better. Managed a walk in North Haven, but no 'running'.

Cardio 32:43 [3] 2.05 mi (15:58 / mi) +1m 15:56 / mi

BHS, around 5p. Nice breeze even if a bit hot, not very humid. Had pretty good energy. Also had some fruit drink and proper cushioning for right heel. Second time to BHS-Turee today, earlier for kayaking. HR 142 at end.

Note

Watched "Race" last night, the story of Jesse Owens at the '36 Olympics - the good & wonderful and the bad and the ugly. Seems his Ohio State coach was a life saver and well as his chief rival in the broad jump, a German who believed in "may the best win" in spite of Nazi expectation.

Went kayaking this morning with Beth on Turee. Started about 0600, calm as could be. First use of the kayak in a long time -- part time reading the paper, part time absorbing morning sounds & sights. We saw a snake on the launch ramp who evidently came out of the water for breakfast. Looks like the water snake PG photographed in MA. Has a fish in its mouth, came from the water, returned to the water, a water snake no doubt.
