Cardio 28:03 [3] 2.1 mi (13:22 / mi) +1m 13:21 / mi

BHS, 55F & foggy. Certainly seemed like end of summer. Surprised I was 30" behind last time and also slower than the two before that one given the cool temp, reasonable energy etc. I've got it so the exercise is just about 100% identical with each visit.

Note

Fun to look at NAOC information, results etc. Seeing 10 year classes doesn't
resonate though - at least with me. Too much physical change over such a time span. There were 51 in M65 on the long. Why not have an M70, running the same course. Or am I missing something?

Go Hans and Sharon, fine NEOC vintage!

W & SW part of the Mega @ Pawtuckaway, perfect day, lo 70s, dry, sunny. Went with Beth. Agreed to meet at car at noon, giving me a bit less than 2 hrs. Didn't do as much as expected. Spent 15'+ crossing Mountain Brook twice. The first was right away, the brook entering Mountain Pond. I walked up it 150m, still not finding a suitable place. Dry feet but concluded total foot immersion was necessary, which became mid-calf. The other was a beaver dam crossing (looking back - foreground is the last and shallower part). The dam was as small a symbol as the crossing was big. Started on top of it & on downstream side but it was chock full of sticks, and the water dark and even deep. Couldn't afford to fall either time as the map was not in a map case. I was considering going around all the large wet area (which was flooded brook) when I noted that I could walk on the upstream side of the dam, free from sticks and with clear water. Tho it dropped off, the bottom was even. So steady progress & it was behind.

Some really nice woods: reminded of Harriman (even incl forest floor grass), Mt. Tom, and Burnt Mt in places. The features were not very well mapped in the most western, peripheral and little used part of the map. Only got back to Mountain Tr. as it was getting on to noon, leaving quite a bit for next time.

Event: NAOC 2018

2 PM

Cardio 27:34 [3] 2.05 mi (13:27 / mi) +1m 13:26 / mi

After work, start 2:15. 86F & overcast, had a wet singlet and water to pourover my head. Slept poorly last night. Had planned to do this before work but Mocha was responsible for little to no sleep between 4 and 5a. Felt sluggish but still the best time. Off to New Druham at 4p.

NAOC begins today...sigh.

Family walk along Squam Lake shore on Five Fingers Tr. I was reminded how special NH lakes can be, esp on picture perfect days.

Cardio 27:38 [3] 2.1 mi (13:09 / mi)

BHS earliest yet, making sure to clear XC practice. Warm/muggy. Decent energy. Paying more attention to lap times as competitive basis, competing with my accumulated time. Forgot the cell so no Strava app which keeps track.
