PT exercise (Yard work too) 50:00 [2]

PT behind Memorial Bldg. Got quite windy, leaves falling in droves. Went outback at home to cut a long-leaning dead tree and found a large fallen branch right in the middle of things so cut it up. I love my battery-powered Dewalt chain saw. It's strong, clean and simple to start/use - after years of increasingly impossible gas saws.

Walking 59:20 [1] 1.07 mi (55:17 / mi) +19m 52:24 / mi

With W, about a mile, starting gps as an after thought; 2/3rds swamp or nearly, then high and dry on the ridge, and back across the swamp, losing direction, finally getting back to dry ground for good. Was close to BBR at one point - probably would have bailed out had I had a leash. The woods have become almost unrecognizable in 10 or so years. Hemlocks and white pine are thick where ever the canopy is thin or nonexistent.

Orienteering 1:06:31 [2] 1.38 mi (48:12 / mi) +55m 42:53 / mi

With Willow at Bear Brook with map & compass. Fine day, T to almost 70F. Worked in am, came home & got over to BB before nap time came to pass. Used walking stick in left hand and map & compass in right hand, thumb compass-like - which I never gravitated to in past. Started on a small path, covered by brush from the entrance to 50m in, then it faded and at same time an unmapped map ran by in front of me for a test. Used 3 close boulders and the X and got away from confusion. Spent an hour off trail, a lot of waist high vegetation. 3 ticks, 3 weeks. Today was brush immersion. One really must check. I do take 3 antibiotics daily though none is a doc for lyme prophylaxis.

Walking 43:39 [1] 1.19 mi (36:41 / mi) +37m 33:27 / mi

With W, gray, muted colors, actually made dramatic in places by the otherwise drab day.

Conversation with my MGH ID speaking of indefinite antibiotics for the back infection not to mention the resultant bp exacerbation (4 antihypertensives for that) from one of them. 2020 a year to put behind and forget for so many reasons, both near and far.

Walking (Nordic walking) 1:00:35 [2] 1.63 mi (37:10 / mi) +67m 32:58 / mi

To Woodhill-Hooksett with Beth & W. Didn't get to drive in as far as I wanted but colors were fine right on the road. Mellow, overcast.

A roaring beast one April day.

Walking 1:02:20 [2] 2.0 mi (31:10 / mi) +53m 28:48 / mi

Putney Pond CE with Willow. Hadn’t been there since April, 2016 & was guessing as to where the round-pond trail was. Fumbled in the woods some, resorted to sun and Strava gps and finally came out on the trail right by the pond. Went CW thru mostly nice open woods, finally returning to pond’s edge, the across the old beaver dam and thru the abandoned buildings, still in good repair. Maybe 15 rusting, rotting old vehicles, probably not much changed in 4.5 yrs. When W saw the first two, it startled her enough for some barking.
