Orienteering 1:30:11 [2] 2.02 mi (44:39 / mi) +159m 35:52 / mi

Bear Brook from Podunk. 55F, fine first day of spring. Walked Squirrel Tr. first as I was curious to see the gps track for this nicely winding trail. Then onto Podunk and down the road and thru the generally green, junky woods back. Lots of people and dogs in parking. A fine 1st day of spring and mother's 101st birthday!

Got distracted, forgot to turn watch off. I don't know of any editing/deletion function other than what I had on Strava but that is not available until I get a new phone - which is about now.

With Beth & W at Old Stumpfield/Elm Brook. Lots of snow/ice on road but woods were bare. Started cold but a pleasant day, last day of winter, too.

Beth drove me to S.Bow Road - dropped off & entered Nottingcook woods between Woodbury houses. Went to Woodbury lookout & then home on a mixture of paths, woods and SVTs which were mostly covered with ice. Drizzle turned to light rain. Certainly a slow go home, utmost care to not fall in a few places - one, esp, where a stream crossed a path. There were some places not seen for a few years. One place, away from the trail, where a downed tree was freshly cut by chain saw but not a clue why someone would have cut that trunk there. Fun in early spring. Walk

Walking (Nordic walking) 1:00:17 [2] 1.42 mi (42:29 / mi) +101m 34:47 / mi

From end of Via Tranquilla - hadn't been there in years. First I noticed the two no Trespassing signs as in public water supply as well as three no prking between signs signs. The hillside has been logged, the original road harder to find further down where there are so many open logged areas. Got to the shore, no path as I knew, the path being further up. I thought I saw it but couldn't really trust given change of appearances. Came upon it on way back, walked on it a bit but decided to come back another day. Another fine day weather-wise. Didn't see anyone.

Robinson Rd. parking - did the lollipop loop. Had never been on the side spur, made for snow mobiles and not interesting - too thick and flat. Decided I wouldn't need Yak-Traks which was wrong. There was a lot of snow & ice away fm parking. The ice was dirty and not as bad as it could have been. Old snow was OK to walk on but I had to keep my eye on the ground at least half the time. Met a young woman and her Husky Legend, new to NH and looking for places to walk/hike. Forgot to turn watch off, being distracted at the end.

Walking (Nordic walking) 1:01:30 [2] 2.45 mi (25:06 / mi) +91m 22:30 / mi

Ides of March walk at Hopkinton Dike with W. NW windy, windy. We went downwind in the bare open field and returned between the dike and woods and some in the woods. Bright, sunny. Didn't see a single person which was a first. Felt energetic. No snow or ice to speak of except on a few short shaded stretches.

Hammond NP, start around 4p. NW blustery/windy. Most of snow & ice gone but still a few places where Yak-Traks made negotiations easy. Moved along better than usual. No W, just having a $113 bath & haircut…too white/clean, too soon for mud. This is the first of DST days and a quintessential early spring afternoon.

GPS didn’t want to go to work. Wouldn’t acquire, turned it on & off a few times. When I finally pocketed it with some degree of disgust, it was all set to go about 20” later. Didn’t want to sync at home either.
