Walking (Rollins Park) 29:48 [1] 0.57 mi (51:51 / mi)

On the way to town DP with Beth too. Impressive trees in the north part.

Walking (Monadnock hike) 6:33:29 [2] 7.83 mi (50:15 / mi) +469m 42:22 / mi

With Peter an old work associate and regular here. We started at the Toll House parking lot, then Halfway House Tr, Cart Path, Royce, Monta Rosa and Smith Summit Trails to the top (virtually no one on these trails). Going down: White Dot, Smith Connector, an abandoned trail, Cliff Walk, another abandoned trail, Thoreau and White Arrow Trails and the Toll road back to parking. Virtually no one after leaving White Dot Tr. This was hard work for me! Balance challenges and just plain fatigue. I hadn't been on a Monadnock summit hike since October, 2021. Peter was there just two days ago. Perfect weather - dry, sunny, clear, a cooling breeze. Started the watch late, after maybe 0.6 mi.

Walking (Robinson Road) 28:16 [1] 0.95 mi (29:47 / mi) +17m 28:13 / mi

What I'll call Beth's default trail - wide/roomy, high canopy, no rocks or roots, nice woods and brook at the turn around.

Orienteering (Carye Woods) 2:00:00 [1] 2.25 mi (53:20 / mi)

Carye woods in Guilford. Had been there before, Jan. 14, 2021. I had only a foggy recollection until I got there. We were there at 0830, the high for today fcst for near 90F - but being early enough and mostly in shade were our lot. The small trail to the actual woods had taken a flood beating at the point where it crossed between wet areas. The beginning was a let down given logging since my last visit. Depressing (and) to look at. Eventually we got to very nice, open woods. I cut short the some 22 flags, the start being slow and discouraging. I remembered nice woods. I wondered how much of the other yellow sections were like the first portion. What I saw subsequently was mostly old logging, meaning more open and navigable than ‘destructed’ woods’. The very open woods I saw were just east of the big N/S marsh (points 15-20). Of the 7-10 area I recall similar appeal but much more rock.

At the main brook near finishing the course, W somehow managed to find some real mud - pristine stream, not flat. No sure what possessed her but she came thru with ‘flying colors’. Followed by a shameless roll in the leaves.

Evidently didn't ensure the gpx was actually started, so no file. Yuk. We were gone from the car two hours. I'd guess 2.25 miles covered.

Walking (BLT & Hemlock, HNP) 50:48 [1] 1.69 mi (30:03 / mi) +53m 27:23 / mi

Drove as far along BLT as much as I had interest for given puddles and deep ruts in a few places. Went to look at two decrepit snow mobile bridges that were mentioned in our Bow Open Spaces meeting. Indeed, dilapidated - also a washed out cart track and a muddy area between them, the latter a subject of trail diversion. Then took Hemlock Trail to the beaver bog, making a loop that I'd not considered until I was at the second bridge, ie, a good way along the route. Hemlock had been cleaned by leaf blower - puzzled as to who would do that on that particular trail.

Walking (Old Johnson Rd.) 58:29 [1] 1.76 mi (33:14 / mi) +44m 30:50 / mi

Sad to see the clear logging and arrive at once was a junction in the woods - and now it's not so. Followed the same small, petering-out trail as last time and then did a messy job of using shadow as well as gps track to finish out the last part. Probably should have walked to the point where I could see IS 93.

Weightexercise workout (@ PF) 35:00 [1]

Cardio (@PF) 10:00 [2]

Been awhile since we've walked in the door, so to speak.

Walking (Rollins Park) 23:10 [1] 0.87 mi (26:30 / mi)

Willow DP - decided today that Rollins is my favorite of the four parks we visit.
